First they gave ships ultra accurate, ultra long range AA, and now they ‘fixed’ that and instead added Vibranium hulls.
Trying to complete the Air component in the Kill orher Mode vehicle task is becoming a chore
also the small caliber guns are broken in the other direction now and don’t shoot enough, it looks like AI gunners wont start to track targets until they are able to fire, and with the range reduction this ends up meaning a plane can get to you before the guns have woken up. I bet 25mm AA guns are basically ineffective now but didn’t try.
for some reason a 40mm didn’t start shooting an SKR-7 until about 2.x km, and potentially the same problem against speed boats but my eyes are glazing over from the confusion.
is Strasbourg just a weak ship or is there something wrong with the model? it seems far to easy to sink
all those Japanese speedboats with rangefinders, even the new one, come on! how hard can it be to see this and also the complete mess that is coastal mods making frigates, you can’t need anything more than grep to sort that out.
and I’ve noticed that some light fleet spawn icons are made invisible by the air spawn icon but appear when you click in the general area, (bad vibes?)
North sea map update maybe? I don’t think that spawn was there before - what a bizzare little change :) now add spawns to FJ Land, and fix encounter spawns because they’re so rare now and I’m guessing that’s because everyone bans and dislikes them.
maybe delay infantry for a bit lol. The ‘not a bug status’ of this ‘Vehicle backups break the new backup selection UI’ problem, that effects all modes and has been broken for weeks feels like a true embarrassment.
I can ignore all the churn and naval bugs under the umbrella of WIP but that backups issue really does disappoint me.
Bad vibes maybe, are they short of developer hours somehow? who knows these days, but it’s an obvious complete lack of testing at the very least
everyone expects regressions in live service games but this must be eating up a lot the good will.
maybe also refine the esports UI before adding a new mode? how hard can it be to hide the spectators from the player roster? and keep the camera focused on a vehicle for a few seconds longer so at least all the explosion animations are seen, at the moment it looks like the camera snaps away as soon as they vehicle is dead or something like that? hard to say.

Another couple of issues that I have noticed arise, or resurfaced recently…

DD Main guns not firing accurately at air targets. This isn’t spread, relative movement, or even the changes to arcade aiming. The shells simply fly at a wide angle to the intended aim point even against non-manoeuvring planes.

HE-VT sparking. I could understand if shells self destructed at extreme range but its not the case. Firing 4" at 3km and seeing the sparks of multiple broadsides (4-8 shells at a time) resulting in not even an indication of minor damage.

HMS Saumarez heels far too easily. Not as bad as when the German Leopard used to capsize but it does mean manoeuvres take you out if combat and i see many players just static firing as a result. I have a bug report accepted but being naval during dev season it still awaits a fix.

Cruiser spawns on lower tier (non-BB) maps often end up with an instant ‘return to battlefield’ warning. If you are doubly unlucky you spawn facing outward in a slow ship with bad rudder authority and more than once I’ve gotten back inbounds with seconds to spare.

Do I have to mention Coastal balance? Just one example is the olde OP SKR problem resurfacing. With many DD counters having gone up its back to facing weaker opponents again and can run riot like it used with the ammo nerfs far less effectice in restricting them.

Most battleships in the 7.x bracket are made of glass.
French ships, Rodney, Americans and Kronshtadts can be instantly killed at most ranges by other ships. 7.3 Kongou sisters are annoyingly durable. Gneisenau is the biggest non 8.0 threat in the 7.x bracket since the only way to instantly kill it is to dunk shells down the elevators and that can be finicky.
Another 5 games in the Yamato. Detonated in all 4 matches within 40 seconds of starting to take fire.
Again, remove it from the game.
This is literally the reason I haven’t bothered to grind 400k for Musashi yet.
Which is a damn shame - I love the A140s but Warthunder has made them so unfun to play that it’s not worth it.

Why there should be a standalone coastal mode - just put all coastal players on one team and only 1-2 on another team
Contradictory, at the same time, coastal is broken too.
Coastal vehicles have two different performance metrics.
Against coastals and against blue waters.
Boats like PT-810 are god tier against blue water, but useless against fellow coastals.
That makes it almost impossible to balance, also, as bluewater BR gets higher, torpedo boats also get better, like PT-810 is much better against a WW1 dreadnought than destroyers who can dodge them easily.
I am okay with this ‘triangle’ on the bottom.
PT boats shouldn’t be able to see anything above destroyers imo.
Because you get people like me that load VTF and fire in the PT boats’ general direction.
WELL, I would be “ok” with PT botes in high BR matches IF people choose to bring them in with their BB/Heavy Cruiser lineups etc etc, IF the ticket bleed was not so stupidly fast when a damn PT bote runs around and caps all 3 points and ends the match in 5-10 mins. That is infuriating. (Totally fine if it is a pure coastal match, but not in matches where people are actually trying to have a nice long well played match in big botes.)
Smol Botes being forced into “uptiers” is total BS though. All been said before, but I agree that the “compression” or the “combined” matches are an issue. Depending on which one people think is the best solution to the coastal situation.
And you wonder why I have zero sympathy for coastal players and make it a top priority to run out their respawns if I know they exist and there isn’t a priority target that requires my immediate attention.
SKRs are at the top of the list since I know they’re worthless past 4km.
Also get rid of crew locks god dammit!
I join battle. Get a disconnection in loading screen and my crew is locked for 8 minutes.
Recently decided to grind the boats I missed after the initial release of french coastal, with Marne included (added after I initally researched french coastal).
And holy moly wtf
I don’t mind playing a strong vehicle from time to time, but how that thing is at the same BR than VLT-1 and 2 is beyond me.
It feels more like your casual farming game than war thunder playing this
Pr 206, Marne, Arras, Aminens effectively makes coastal unplayable for vast majority of boats. There are more of these boats of course, but I’m not gonna name them all.
What do you all think about the IJN Tosa ? DOA? or worth it to grind and sell? It would be the first 8.0 reward battleship.Judging by how screwed top tier and the Yamato are in the current environment, iam not sure how attractive it would be.
