Several easy improvements to naval battle matchmaking, what could be done to enrich player experience:
-
Return small map variants (from before where spawn points were pushed back) to the rotation for low Battle Ratings (BR 6.3 and below).
-
Return to rotation the maps that were completely removed: South Africa, both variants of Southern Kvarken in Domination mode, Aleutian Islands for large ships, Southern Kvarken and Aleutian Islands in Encounter mode, as well as Southern Kvarken and Aleutian Islands in Conquest mode.
-
Shift the BR ranges for mid-tier maps upward by 0.3-0.7. After BR decompression adjustment, destroyers and frigates ended up fighting in Encounter mode at distances of 20+ km. These maps don’t even have separate destroyer spawns, and convoy bots accurately spray fire from all their guns throughout the entire battle.
-
Return Domination mode maps to the 6.3+ rotation (our favorite Japanese Port, Black Sea Port, New Zealand, Cape Horn/Fireland, Coral Sea Islands, and Norway). Removing them from battleship matches was a major mistake and significantly reduced battle variety. Currently, a quarter of all large fleet ships—on which players spend the most time grinding and where they purchase expensive premium vessels—are limited to playing on just 8 maps, 4 of which are virtually identical Conquest maps with a large capture circle in the middle of nowhere.
-
Finally, as a bonus—add weather and time-of-day variety to naval battle matchmaking. Let fleet commanders experience storms, night battles, sunrise, and sunset. Currently, 90% of all maps use presets between 10 AM and 1 PM with weather conditions like haze, overcast, thin clouds, or light cloudiness, which are visually indistinguishable from each other.
It wouldn’t be difficult to adjust matchmaking slightly for naval battles, and players would greatly appreciate it.

- Nah, everything is fine
