the j6k1 was in a sl lootbox like 4-5months ago… I got it and I have a pretty good k/d(2-4k/d) in it… it even reached a k/d of 9 at some point(had like 50kills to 9 deaths)
That just proves how the average player lacks awareness and doesn’t bother trying to learn how to play to their aircraft’s strengths.
The J6K1 isn’t even better than the F4U4B that sits at 5.7.
I think its better than the ki84hei, and the ki84 is pretty solid against most planes
The Ki84 Hei is a Ki84 Ko (5.3) that is ridiculously overtiered cuz of the 30mm cannons.
The J6k is not very far from it in performance. It’s roughly a 5.7 aircraft like I said.
Ki84 didnt felt bad at all(before they killed the ho155 (removed the tracer from he)). You just had to kill the spitfire before your had a turnfight with him… all other planes are food in a turnfight…
I dont compared the speedstats but it felt more or less compeptitive. Maybe it was the 30mm cannon obliterating everythong in a headon
Yes, the plane doesn’t feel bad cuz your average player is clueless, if they knew what they were doing it your gameplay would be a nightmare.
Resuming: if the plane can turn well and has good guns it will be probably be going up in BR regardless of it’s actual performance. Cuz the average player will probably either try to turn with it or full commit headon and die.
Known examples are: F4U-1C, Re.2005, G56, N1K2, Spitfire Mk 22, La-11, Ki84 Hei and pretty much all the zeroes.
People at 6.7 have no idea how to counter a prop that doesn’t suck. It’s objectively mediocre and already wasn’t the best at 6.0.
The Mk24 is better in every way and yet players do worse in it than in the J6K.
Turnfightet a spitfire for testing(testfight with a friend)… you got no chance…
Is Ki-84 that different in RB? In SB most people I know, including pretty well-regarded content creators and community folk, seem to agree that Ki-84 is an incredibly oppressive plane on par with the Spitfire Lf Mk IX (both at 5.0).
The Instructor holds the Ki-84 back a lot in RB.
It is only using ~70% of its max turn performance when not G-limited.
… Sheesh.
And unlike with german props, you can’t even say it’s to protect you from stalling because IME japanese planes don’t want to depart flight.
Minor quibble, the 1.3 million is all games, ever, sorta, not just the last few months. The “sorta” is it’s only all games ever by active players in 2025, because if they’re not active now their service record can’t be scraped.
The LF Mk9s stay at about 75% max AoA, but that alone is enough to make for a huge difference in turn ability. Also means it stalls much later.
This is set on a plane-by-plane basis, and is decided by whatever gaijin felt like at the time. Some go as high as 85%.
Oh, I thought statshark only counted the last few months since that’s when it’s been around.
Well, it doesn’t change much at least at 6.7, with last month’s looking almost identical. J6K got worse (undoubtedly from moving to 6.7), BI players woke up, Mk24s still sucking.
6.0:
J7W moved down a few spots. Ta 152H got worse and the N1K2-Js took over. Ki-83 still somehow top dog.
5.7:
J2Ms still hold second and third, 3U players still beaten by an outdated contraption. Unsurprisingly the LF is on top.
3.0:
Yet another grossly undertiered prop, the P-39N steals #1. 109 E7 and F4U-1A still well above their country’s counterparts and putting up one hell of a fight.
Yes I believe this definitely is something that should be considered.
Id say balancing should be based around a baseline player performance of ~50% win rate, and ~1.0 KDR on average, and remove player performance who average much lower or higher than that.
Then you know that if your data set of players across their account is averaging around those stats in all their aircraft, but the average of those players for a specific plane is much higher or lower than that, then it might be unbalanced.
Overall though I think that should only account for maybe 1/3 of the balancing “weight” of a vehicle. The vehicles true relative performance against its peers needs to be the driving factor, because currently there are so many planes that are straight up worse or better than anything else at their BR but are being put at those BRs due to inconsistent player performance and average skill levels playing different aircraft.
I mean this is honestly bonkers, it really shows just how much the average player skill level is influencing stats. Now imagine planes that aren’t or dont have easily accessible copy paste versions in the big 3 tech trees to compare stats to, and boom you have the J7W1 which is high up the list in stats despite being barely worthy of 5.0 let alone 6.0.
We can squad up sometime and I can showcase the most mediocre P-47D play you’ve ever seen ;-). I don’t know if it’s a trick of the match maker or what, but often when I take it out I will have another on my team. One of my most embarrassing in-game moments in recent memory was getting dusted by a P-47D while flying a P-47D-28 and trying to energy trap him. Big oof.
You seen to forget P-51C-10 is a tech tree vehicle whilst the Japanese P-51C-11-NT is a premium (so not many would buy this as it’s a low tier premium)
it’s more understandable the japanese P51 would have a higher status than the US one as only a limited number of players own this and actively play it. (and not need to stock grind)
also pro tip for people suffering against japanese prop planes (maybe dont turnfight a turnfighter)
Win rate is not a major statistic and I’m not sure why people are addicted to it when it’s irrelevant.
I didn’t forget - that’s the point. The Premium to Tech Tree comparison is for highlighting the impact of pilot skill - because there is no significant difference in aircraft performance.
Of Rank 2 and Rank 3 vehicles, the tech tree P-51C-10 is the 11th most played plane (out of 400). It would be VERY hard to make the argument that’s simply people spading the plane and moving on.
W/R is only irrelevant if you’re not playing to win ;-). That being said, both premium versions of the P-51C-11-NT have MUCH better K/D and K/S than the tech tree P-51C-10. It’s interesting to note how much better the much less often played version is.
1 involves grinding it, 2 involves just flying it
