Well the 9Ds have much better acceleration than the Aim-9Js (Actually Aim-9Ps), but the caged seeker really limits their usage in my opinion.
I can understand taking 4x Aim-9Ds over 4x Aim-9Ps, but I think I would rather take 6x Aim-9Ps than 4x Aim-9Ds at a 9.3 downtier in a lot of cases to be honest, even if it means worse flight performance.
Depends on how fast you’re going compared to the enemy, and the difference in altitude. You can get some 2.5km shots if they’re slow and you’re fast, or you may only get 1.5km shots if they are fast and very high up. Either way, 6x of them is quite good.
True, but only 4 of them (in which they aren’t very useful in a dogfight).
Very situational but I agree they can be useful.
That’s true, and I could see the MiG 21s and F8s going to 10.7 too.
Not really its a fantastic sub sonic fighter but even at 9.3 it gets into the issue where its sub sonic and a lot of thing are no longer sub sonic, meaning if they dont want to engage you they dont have to, kind of just ends up being like some of the zero’s or the Vampyr which is that your really good in a fight but only if someone allows you to drag them into that fight or they just get cocky and think they can fight you. I’ve had one too many matches where I get one or two kills in it and then all that is left is supersonic fighters who are ground pounding and I just have to loose the match because they keep running from me and hitting ground targets.
That’s the thing – it’s like the BI, Me 163, Vampyr… etc.
They can basically easily win any dogfight and so it heavily discourages the enemy team from dogfighting, but allows your team to go for it.
You are basically untouchable against 8.3s, even 8.7s.
You need to get third-partied to even have a chance of getting killed.
The ariete is an entire jump in br over the 8.3 and 8.7 planes as is every other single plane at 9.3 go ahead try and kill a f104 in a saber you get the same result. However it is worth noting that these 8.3 and 8.7 planes especially with later saber models can compete against the Ariete. Moving the Ariete to 9.7 would allow it to see 10.7 and you’re out of your mind if you think the Ariete could ever in a million years fight a J7D or F5C as the difference between 10.7 and 9.7 is insanely larger than 8.3 to 9.3.
So I think a better idea is to just overall limit the br’s planes can see do to the jumps in technology being so large between a full.
The BI, Me 163 and Vampyr are all exceptional turn aircraft and rate fighters great for dogfights along with the Ariete which absolutely discourages other planes from dogfighting them, this is why the Ariete and many of these planes sit at br’s where they are much slower than the other aircraft so these aircraft can have choices on how to engage them such as an f104 which can just boom and zoom the Ariete all day making it a balanced interaction at its BR even if it is frustrating that the Ariete can’t ever catch them. You wouldn’t dogfight a zero in a Mustang so you shouldn’t dogfight a Ariete in supersonic planes. The Ariete is perfectly fine at 9.3 its well balanced for its BR any amount of uptier and it noticeable struggles. At 9.7 which isnt a BR really it would just be getting swatted out the air every match by IR missiles which it has zero counter to, and god forbid it see’s a 10.7 match where it will have zero fighting chance against all aspect missiles, radar missiles all on fantastic dogfighting aircraft.
F-100 is my favorite US jet, so i’m gonna sign under every word of your’s. J35XS need to get 10.7 at least! It got 6 decent missiles, countermeasures, top speed/acceleration, and maneuverability. Why does it have the same br as mig21smt&Japanese F104, or lower br then F5C/F5A? Just another pay to win thing as Wyvern.
*only a 12cms
so same amount as mig23m and Su22-M3(both on 11.0 btw)? Or 12 more than F-104J that seat’s on the same br, has far worse fligh model, and have same amount of missiles? 12 cms are more than enough if you have a brain bigger than a shrimp.
P.S. Skill issue
