Model Errors of the LS-6 Series Bombs

This is a bug topic dedicated to the model issues of the LS-6 series bombs.

Before this, I had already written a bug report Model Errors of the LS-6 Series Bombs. However, the Reporting Manager deemed my supporting materials insufficient to substantiate the issue and then locked it… This has really frustrated me, so I plan to post a special topic about this bug on the forum.

These were a series of canned responses, and he didn’t even give specific reasons for the rejection.

①Incorrect Dimensions of the LS-6 250

The model of the LS-6 / LS-6(IR) 250kg bomb in the game is incorrect. The in-game model is larger than its real-life counterpart.

The “LS-6 Modularized” is a modification based on existing general-purpose bombs. This means that using this kit will not alter the original size and dimensions of the bomb.

Specifically, the LS-6 250 utilizes the 250-3 bomb as its base. The in-game model for the LS-6 500 correctly matches the size of the 500-3 bomb, which accurately reflects this real-world adaptation.

Whether in the game or in reality, the LS-6 250 is correctly associated with the “250-3” designation.

designation 250-3

However, the bomb body of the LS-6 250 is noticeably larger than the standalone 250-3 bomb. A direct comparison of the models in software like Blender clearly shows that the LS-6 250 model is significantly bigger than the 250-3 model .

② Incorrect Folding Wing Geometry for the LS-6 Series Bombs(LS6-250 and LS6-500)

At the 2024 Zhuhai Airshow, the LS-6 series bombs were displayed with their flight wings in a fully folded , parallel configuration .

In contrast, in the game, for both the LS-6 250 and LS-6 500, the wings in the folded state are not parallel and form a noticeable angle, which is inaccurate. As the fins assume a “V” shape in the game

③ Reduced Payload Capacity on J-10C Due to Model Errors

After describing the first two bugs mentioned above, we can now move on to the third issue: the integration of the LS-6 250 bomb with the triple ejector rack mounted on the J-10C.In the TER, there should be three LS-6 250 bombs instead of the current two in the game.

Due to the oversized dimensions and incorrect flight wing modeling of the LS-6 250, it clips through the models of the left and right bombs when mounted on the TER of the J-10C. This model collision issue prevents each pylon from carrying three bombs, and the loadout has to be reduced to just two.

model clipping

————————————————————————————

If these issues are fixed

1:

If the LS-6 250’s model is scaled down to match the actual dimensions of the 250-3 bomb

2:

and combined with a correction to the wing folding geometry

3:

the three bombs fit perfectly on the rack without any model clipping.

No model clipping

(ps:my 3D modeling skills are not particularly proficient. Since these model assets are integrated and non-modular, I had no choice but to modify them directly based on the original in-game model files. I adjusted the bomb size by scaling it proportionally, and when it came to modifying the flight wings in particular, I could only edit them by deleting their vertices, edges, and faces, followed by stretching and reshaping them… In the end, I barely managed to approximate the real-world configuration, but the final result is not very precise. At the same time, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has taken the time to read this far and review this issue.)

Bug report managers aren’t even using common sense sometimes, the LS-6 literally has “250-3” written on the bomb in pictures and in-game yet they want sekrit dokuments to prove these have the same bomb body.

It’s incredibly difficult to fully meet the standards for a bug report. If they don’t want to deal with an issue, they’ll just lock and close it directly. In 2026, Gaijin’s focus will be on Infantry. I’m afraid the time and effort they spend on vehicles will only get less and more half-hearted.
