Mitsubishi F-2

i mean missile behavior

image is of the outer pylon, however i have confirmed through other images that the inner most pylon includes the same markings, simply used the outside one as it was the only way to get it all in one legible image.

The same can be said about the ADFX-01, but personally I think this thread is best used for official content, not fake bait.

I’m already added ASFX and ADf-11F + X02S

Sarcasm.

Unfortunately your F-2 project is not official news.

Sources for all these? We can try to use this data to argue about adding 6 AAM-4 for F-2 if it comes with 4+4 loadout.

Some models and pictures of F-2 Super Kai have (I think) AAM-4 on outer pylons as well.

Early in development it was often shown mounting the 4 ASM + 2 Sparrow + 2 SRM loadout, but after the mockup on the first prototype this wasn’t seen again. The part about wing cracking issues during flight testing is what I remembered from the old forum, I don’t have any sources at hand. But I’ll send it here if I find anything on it (I just ordered a mew book on the F-2, should arrive by the end of the month)

Spoiler

Depiction of an early version of the SX-3 based FS-X (Troubled Parnership - Mark Lorell)

Likely based on this publication from 1989 (possibly even a bit earlier)

But I’m still not hopeful they would be added even if this is true, since that would still only mean they were non-functional mockups, and not prove that they can actually be mounted and used like that on armed F-2s.

Outer pylons are probably AIM-120, Super Kai leaned very heavily into integrating more US systems like F110-GE-132 EIPE engine, JHMCS, Link 16 datalink, PANTERA TGP, US built AESA radar (can’t find which) and even AIM-9X over the Japanese domestic AAM-5.

Tbf it leaned into US stuff because it was a LM proposal, has there ever been a LM proposal that didnt favour US technologies? Lmao

Is there a chance this will come this patch, or have we had confermation that its going to be in one of the future updates ??

unless gaijin did the 2S38, i don’t think it will come this patch

I highly doubt they’d sneak in a new top tier jet to live without any testing. Most likely June but it could also be saved for later

When was the super Kai proposal made?

Publicly revealed during International Aerospace Exhibition Japan Aerospace in 2004.

Then the US made radar probably would have been the AN/APG-80 @MAUSWAFFE

It makes sense since that radar is from F-16E, and the engine proposed was also on F-16E

BVVD said on dev-stream, that it wasn’t even planned for this update. He also said that it will come “rather even this year”. I hope for the next update, because Japan is the only nation (well, with China, since J-11B is moved to 13.7) without 14.0 plane.

Japan and China without 14.0…

This really calls for an F-2A / J-10B centered update

Ok hear me out, like the Su-25 and A-10 these two have their own trailer, but this time together.

Like this:

F-2 opens up flying low over the ocean, talking to radars about potential adversaries to the East

J-10B is seen taxiing with J-11s in the back parked

Cut to F-2 pilots talking about a new Chinese fighter no one’s ever seen before

J-10B flying at high alt picking up something low on its radar

F-2 picks up something flying alt

J-10B steep dives down

F-2 climb up

They meet like the air superiority trailer F-15 and Su-27 but vertical

Slowed cut of both pilots locking eyes

Black screen with the only audio being a Chinese and Japanese voice both saying “target engaged” at the same time

It would be so peak
