I don’t see how it could possibly be worse than KH-38 being used ingame. Su-34 has six of those, this would only have 4 ASM-2. GPS guided ASM-2B is not the worst weapon around, it could be useful.
Anyhow, I know GBU-31 is in JASDF service, but not necessarily on F-2. GBU-31/GBU-56 are the same as GBU-38/54, except on Mk84 2000lbers instead of Mk82 500lbers. I hope to find evidence of their use for various reasons.

Yes, 2000lbers are critical for CAS when JDAM/LJDAM are your best CAS weapon.

Yeah its really frustrating by the time they add it theres just really little point to it anymore…i mean performance wise its being ourclassed this update with Typhoons…early F-2 also wont match them in Fox 3 numbers unless we get that 6 fox 3 loadout but thats still less then the F-15JM and Typhoons.
F-2 performance is already out-classed by F-15E…
Yeah…and it has no MAWs (at least none that we can determine yet) and its radar wont save it so not sure why gaijin is holding it back. At this rate the F-2 with J/APG-2 will be necessary instead.
We should of had XF-2A with sparrows a while ago and now F-2A (J/APG-1) with AAM-4s
I’d argue it was already matched by the F-16C.
I think it won’t give any pluses in game and the only different will be the normal AAM-4 using

Well they are a little bit similar but yeah in mave cased F-16C is better
J/APG-2 F-2 might be a bit more deadly if it got AAM-4B since it would have a more advance radar with a aesa seeker fox 3 but thats if gaijin would add that (which they wont anytime soon)

I know the past couple sub-trees didn’t add anything for host nation but there was also nothing to add at the time. This time it’s different of course Gaijin could say Japan got enough and focus on other nations.
All that being said there is still a slim chance until dev server… as it’s really questionable that one of the earliest Gen 4.5 isn’t with the others and the only thing keeping it relevant is a first generation AESA radar…
Jokes aside, I hope the F-2A comes in the next update or two
