Mitsubishi F-2

It’s the Type-25 HVGP ?

No, its the Type 25 ASM, air-aunched version of the Type 25 SSM.

The Type 25 HVGP is a hyper veloctiy glide projectile, as its name says.

concurrent of the XASM-3 ?

yeah, ASM-3 its more meant as a high value target killer, kinda like ship carriers or big destroyers or even cruisers, while Type 25 SSM is meant as a frigate or a heavily defended ship killer wich its meant to intercept targets at standoff aka a tactical interceptor, while also being capable of doing anti ground works

Is the intake covered up?

Also, I wonder if this missile might also have the option of deploying countermeasures, like how the Russian modified their Kodiak missiles

there’s probably little hope that the F-2 Super Kai could make it into the game, considering it didn’t happen, right?
(Not that it stopped the F-16AJ, but well)

The AJ was a very exceptional decision, it happened because there was really no alternative at the time (before Japan’s subtrees). Now, Japan has 3 subtrees that are well able to fill all the BR gaps and bring variety.
It also wasn’t the same situation, they just copypasted a F-16A which is a real plane, and called it a day. The Super Kai on the other hand was never built, the only thing close to it is the F-16E/F Block 60 since it was basically gonna be a Block 60 version of the F-2. But since the F-2 remains structurally different from the F-16, there’s nothing very close to it that exists so it’s not really possible.
So, as cool as I find this project, honestly there’s no way it will be added (not any time soon at least)

Please, give this report some attention, the ASM-2 is driving me crazy. It’s nice that they finally do actual damage now, but when they barely ever hit, what use is that?

Why are the pylons shaped differently in the game?

It’s been reported and accepted by the mods over a year ago, probably can’t do much but wait. Gaijin doesn’t really care much about these minor modelling issues. You can add that video and pictures below the report, though.

They’ve been reported and changed like a half dozen times, gaijin has repeatedly tried to rescale the model but it just doesn’t work cause its not right in the first place.

You’re mixing up the Type-25 with the other new ASM japan is working on. There’s nothing to indicate the Type-25 can evade fire or perform land attack. Japan’s other new ASM however does have such functionalities planned / in the works, and its also slated for eventual deployment on the F-2.

Gaijin nerfed the scan speed a while ago I think. It’s obviously better than any mechanical one but as far as AESA goes, it’s probably the worst radar

I mean land counter attack has been part of the plan for the Type 25 for a long time, so I don’t think you can genuinely claim that there’s nothing to indicate it can when this was a part of the plan for it.

I wonder how useful missiles that can only be carried in pairs, like the ASM-3A or the Type 25 SSM, would actually be in War Thunder.

The Type 25 SSM is supposedly capable of land attack, but its seeker is designed for engaging ships, and without satellite-based target updates, it’d probably have to rely on GNSS alone. As for the ASM-3A, its passive radar seeker seems to be mainly intended for classifying ship types.

Still, I think having them is more fun than not having them at all.

(For context: the Type 25 SSM is an extension of the conventional subsonic anti-ship missile lineage, with land attack being more of a secondary capability. A more capable land-attack role is expected to come from the new anti-ship/anti-surface precision-guided missile (新地対艦・地対地精密誘導弾), but no information on an air-launched variant has been disclosed so far. Also, the missile that does the barrel roll is the New Anti-Ship Missile for the Defense of Remote Islands (島嶼防衛用新対艦誘導弾).)

Yeah thats my fault looks similar.

Regardless of land attacks capabilities or not we have nuclear escalation mode and eventually im positive warthunder naval will reach modern era this will offer a more “stealthy” missle against such targets gaijin is modeling reduced RCS on these types of missiles soon and much longer range then an ASM-2 and even current ASM-3 iirc.

ASM-3 offers a very high speed ASM critical for giving enemy ships less time to prepare a counter defense.

As for loadouts i believe in WT it will be possible to carry up to 4 ASM-3 and possibly 4 of the new missiles…

Or a mix of ASM-3/new missile and ASM-2 since remember in WT we can carry ASMs in the fuel tank stations

Yeah they are absolutely terrible they don’t sea skim and miss targets I’ve seen them dip into the water and then come back out lol
