Mitsubishi F-2

I never found any information about seeker head for it, I suspect it is more or less same as on ASM-2 given timeline of development, but anyway it’s primary target would be something like Type 067 Landing craft “Yunnan” which is hardly bigger than tank it carries

I read through a PDF document i found on japans mod.go (public info)
Thats where i found the information about the dual wavelength etc

If you are talking about this one

Spoiler

There is no any information that this is GCS-1seeker. I’ve seen information, that this is taken from presentation about thermals, and not related to seekers at all. Also, distance is only 1.8 km, so it won’t be useful in the game.

Would like to see it though

Doesn’t really change the fact that tanks and ships are more or less in same tempetature spectrum so their IR signature would still be the same. This graph depicts how much of UV/IR radiation from target (target radiating 100% obviously) sensor can see. It also detect bigger procentage of UV becasue UV is way better of going through atmosphere.

Also info on it having dual wavelenght seeker seems plausible considering AAM-3 and Type 91 SAM was developed in the same time

That the point. It can be used as smth close related, but it’s not about GCS-1 and cannot be used to as direct proof!

Tanks should be hotter than ship, but they are way smaller. Discussions suppose to be around distance of tracking, and not the ability itself.

They were, but then what? Maybe they decided to reduce cost and use single wave seeker. Without any documents it’s just speculations…

Not just weapons or IRST, FCS was also not installed on 141.

It was tested in labratory.

Direct proof Penguin can track tanks from 20 km?

IIRC, the GCS-1 requires a temperature difference of 50 degrees C to track targets. So, honestly, well it probably can track tanks, the thing is it’d be very inconsistent in game, with it just not tracking colder targets/targets on hotter maps.

So, well yes it honestly probably could technically, it probably can technically track tanks, the inconsistencies would make it not even reliable enough to actually take into a battle.

This is indeed the GCS-1 Seeker

Source Not sure if i can disclose it yet lemme ask rq

50/50 due to its dual wavelength it can operate with lower and higher tempreture

do you have a source for this? I was looking for it recently, could only find different sources talking it being a potential upgrade.

I do I just have to search my DM’s on discord for it (over 3000 of it ) so it’ll take me a while to find it

Source is on japanese mod.go.jp ➞ Once I find the link I’ll edit it in

➞ This referrs to my previous statement of the low and high temperature targets

iirc Smin said if it was trialed, it’d be added.

so if you do find it, that’d be perfect ^^!

now the fun part is to find the proof of it (fun)

Considering QDIPs (Quantum Dot Infrared Photodetectors) didn’t exist until 1997-98, no, this is not for the the GCS-1.

This is for the GCS-1 just later development’s for it

Dude the technology this talks about literally did not exist yet.

" just later development’s for it " he said
but idk abt GCS-1 later developments, did they have separate Designations?
