Although the Fictional-16AJ suffices in terms of cas, Japan is the worst nation cas-wise, it has a whopping ZERO guided bombs of ANY kind
It really should have GBU-8s. I don’t know how they forgot them, they were advertised in the brochure and are found on other F-16As in game anyways.
The F-16AJ is a mix of proposals I’m pretty sure, and Japan wasn’t allowed by constitution to use guided bombs anyway, thus it wasn’t proposed at all. Not exactly sure, but that’s the reason for it I think.
The F-16AJ was taken from the final F-16J proposal to Japan, this specified a BVR capable F-16 based on the YF-16A Sparrow testbed.
In Game it’s a mix of early F-16J and the F-16 ADF, an aircraft that came a decade after the AJ proposal. It’s a downgrade of an aircraft that already wasn’t capable enough to win the competition.
This doesn’t exist. It’s a myth that comes from people misinterpreting the constitution and taking political interpretations for a fact. Since there is no such thing as offensive or defensive weapons, it is up to individual interpretation.
Nuclear missiles can be seen as defensive if you consider them as necessary deterrent to prevent war, it’s all up to interpretation.
It’s also worth noting Japan does actually operate both domestic and imported guided bombs, just in case there was any doubt left.
They were in the proposal. Since the AJ was offered with GBU-8, those are part of its capability and should be in game.
I assume these would be GCS-1s and JDAMs respectively, right? Haven’t seen anything else
gaijin when
idk if anyone has already said these differnces but ima just copy word for word out of a book. f2 has wider wingspan increased by around 25 per cent and has a “stretched fusalage” by around 43cm the f2 can carry four indiginous anti ship missile either the subsonic ASM 1 or ASM 2 with an active rader and infered seeker or the super sonic ASM 3 with a ramjet engine. deffensive arnament is a US supplied AIM 7 sparrow beyond visual AAM and the short range AAM 3 and the beyond visual AAM 4 witch offers a radar seeker. I apologize for being a yapper and low tier but i would like mth to look foward to
Now that the su34 has a phased array radar installed, the F-2 should be fully suitable for inclusion in the game?
You a little bit wrong. Su-34 has PESA which is different from F-2 AESA
But in this major the first in game air vehicle with AESA is added - the new Mi-8AMTSh. So yeah, waiting the F-2
The su34 in the dev server has added the TAS function in TWS mode, which is one of the key features of modern airborne phased array radars and is very important for various aircraft that may be added. The radar of the mi8 in the test server is nothing special, although it is an aesa radar in reality.
What do you mean by TAS? As in hard lock and search as opposed to soft lock and search?
The mechanical scanning radar TWS in the game predicts the target position and flight speed by using the last two search results. Their refresh target information frequency is closely related to the radar scan period (so a longer period will significantly affect the TWS quality).
The Su-34’s N004 radar TWS directly moves the beam to track the target of concern while searching the airspace. The target position and speed it provides are continuous and accurate.
Granted its AESA being held back to any other nation’s equivalent would be quite a bad idea… APG-83 has almost triple the range of the F-2, while other radars such as the 62v2/v3 or 82 easily outclassing the F-2 in terms of platform.
Ah gotcha.
To be fair the comment you’re replying to was many months ago before ARH update.
At present moment, J/APG-1 or even J/APG-2 (might be necessary to use with J/ARG-1?) is fine. We have the AAM-4 and we also know that datalink turns off and never re-enables as soon as the ARH seeker finds something (even if chaff). So even an AESA equipped fighter with a normal PD ARH missile will get the same performance from the missile as a fighter equipped with a traditional mechanical PD radar.
Given that they are modeling AESA and PESA right now and Smin’s general comment about ESA radars, I suspect December might introduce the first AESA fighters, including the F-2 and F-15C (with APG-63(V)2). I don’t want to get my hopes but but I’m cautiously optimistic. It will most likely be equipped with AAM-3, AAM-4, AIM-7M, JDAMs (maybe even L-JDAMs). Could maybe even see ASMs.
Is there any evidence of Japanese use of Mk84 JDAM GBU-31 or LJDAM GBU-56 2000lb bombs on F-2? Considering the lack of other munitions, the presence of these is a big deal for its CAS capabilities. Especially the dual capability GBU-56 LJDAM. 500lb JDAMs are not super effective weapons in F&F GPS mode, so having only 500lb GBU-54 would not be too different from only having 500lb Paveways. Not great. Very difficult to fight Pantsir.
GPS AND Laser guided JDAMS only
However ASM-2 might be able to target ground units in particular ASM-2B since its GPS guided and probably can be used with sniper pod for target track.
The IR version ASM-2 is a bit more iffy against ground but might still be possible. These missiles have 150km range and large warhead since they are Anti ship missiles first but not sure if gaijin will think its too powerful for ground.
I don’t see how it could possibly be worse than KH-38 being used ingame. Su-34 has six of those, this would only have 4 ASM-2. GPS guided ASM-2B is not the worst weapon around, it could be useful.
Anyhow, I know GBU-31 is in JASDF service, but not necessarily on F-2. GBU-31/GBU-56 are the same as GBU-38/54, except on Mk84 2000lbers instead of Mk82 500lbers. I hope to find evidence of their use for various reasons.
I think he asks about 2000lbs versions of JDAM/LJDAM.
But as i know it is missing in JASDF
