MiG 29K battlerating to 13.3

eh playing it this morning wasn’t as fun, it would appear all of 14.3 has decided to prey on the Su-30MKs (you included)
still not awful

just running some duels it seems to be very slightly inferior to F-16A BL10 but thats still a phenomenal FM, people just need to stop comparing the MiG-29K to the undertiered Su-30MK and 27SMs

You mentioning the radar reminded me of the gimbal it has. Now that I think about it, the 29KR is practically a 1:1 analog for the J-10A prior to PL-12 obliteration.

Even better missiles for the meta, roughly equal avionics+radar gimbal ability, equally strong fm but in the form of a rate fighter not an aggro plane. And I’d like to see anyone say the J-10A wasn’t cracked prior to the PL-12 incident. This thing is great for sure.

I assume you’re talking about the lack of 27ER? Its a sidegrade/situational missile over the R-77 and the Mig-29KR can carry 8 missiles vs 6 on the SMT, so it’s clearly better.

Still is quite decent, although the FM isn’t great.

The 2 extra misssiles are just 73s, and carrying r27ers is very helpful and not a sidegrade at all, aswell as 27et that is notorious for stealth shots even at maws,
the argument that 29kr should be higher because of 2 extra missiles and better engine is instantly invalid with the su33 and su27 sitting at the same br despite having all the same differences except the 29kr is worse off than 33 is

barely useful gimmick

the ER is strong yes, but the 29KR’s flight perf heavily makes up for the lack of it compared to the M

MiG-29KR comes close to one of the top-5 duel platforms in duelling, while the 29SMT probably loses to some gen 3s
the flight models are so vastly different from each other that it’s a literal coughing baby vs atomic bomb level comparison

Its always useful to have an extra pair of those and you still have the same 6x ARH missiles that you can bring on the SMT.

They are a sidegrade of sorts, it has some advantages like better tracking and kinematics but since they are SARH you can’t properly use them if you are being pushed out by some ARH at the same time, unlike the R-77. And you can’t attack multiple targets, of course. Plus the R-77 is much better at HOBS

I like to bring a single R-27ER + 5 R-77 on the Mig-29 SMT, but I don’t mind using a 6x R-77 loadout instead. Having 6x R-77 and 2x R-73 is clearly an upgrade regardless of the lack of R-27ER and ET

27ET is notorious for being easily flared at distance or following a missile that your target happens to shoot. At short ranges in rear aspect might as well use R-73

The Su-33 and Su-27 are correctly placed in the same BR (not saying they are fine at 13.0 because they should go up provided we get decompression)

Su-33 has a couple more missiles and better RWR, Su-27 has a considerably better FM. They are sidegrades of each other.

Now, when comparing the 29 SMT with the 29 KR, the 29 KR has more missiles and a considerably better FM, so your argument with the Su-33 and Su-27 doesnt even make sense to begin with.

They both have the same missile loadouts
M just gets 2 more R-77s and the R-27 family of missiles

The 27ER is arguably less useful on the 29KR because it is noticeably slower at post-mach speeds compared to the 29M.

The comparison is with the SMT because OP is arguing the 29KR isn’t better and should also be 13.3.

The 29M is also 13.7 and equally strong as the 29KR, or maybe even a little better since it can carry 8x R-77 and has better performance at post-mach speeds because the 29KR is so draggy
