I don’t think I would change MiG-21bis BR for a change in flight model, because a worse turn rate is not necessarily huge nerfs unless it bleeds speed a lot like current flight models.
A worse turn rate means, at the same time, improved energy retention in turning when using the instructor.
It would result at it being most likely lowered in br seeing that it won’t have any redeeming factor it doesn’t have them even now and seeing that it will happen to most likely all mig 21s the smt mf and other’s will be hurt as well
They are much less restricted by Aspect angle so the target is less likely to see them, they also arm in a comparatively short time, and have a significant leg up in maneuverability so can be very effectively used at short range providing little response time and can make up for comparatively significant amounts of nose misalignment, doesn’t help that they are also pretty quick and so don’t give much away.
Also they seem to have a strange tendency to ignore flares on occasion.
The R-60M and R-24 seem to be all I tend to die to at and around 11.0, the prevalence of the MiG-23ML and assorted airframes really doesn’t help.
The fact that the counterpart, the AIM-9P-4 (All Aspect AIM-9J) hasn’t similarly propagated which is again strange.
There is no rage, only facts. If you want rage, then go play the Bis stock for 40 games and not get any modifications because its unable to get a stable kill whilst stock.
Stock gameplay being tough isn’t exclusive to the Mig-21.
I’ve stock grinded it twice. Once in the Swedish tree and once in the USSR tree. 2:1 K/D on both (which some wouldn’t even consider good). If you focus on unlocking the missiles first then you can easily unlock the rest if you play safe and don’t expect to get an ace every game without performance upgrades.
That the proximity Fuse is not instantly armed the moment it comes off the rail, which further enforces a minimum engagement distance since it’s unlikely that a direct hit will be scored especially so with Lower loading missiles, and yet further under high closure rate conditions like those of a Forward hemisphere launch.
USAF Sidewinders alongside Russian missiles arm in half a second after launch USN & Joint (AIM-9L & -9M) Sidewinders and French Missiles arm 1.9 seconds after launch.
R-60Ms are trash all aspects and all aspects show up much lower and with much better missiles like the 9L, not to say he’s correct about no advantages.
If you die to a R-60M and you still had flares, you did REALLY badly in the fight. REAAALLLY badly.
I’m about to grind the MiG-21bis in the Hungarian line and when I do, I’ll play it stock to spaded within a week and post the results of my stats here. Have fun being wrong!
They’re a fine missile if you compare them against what you will find at a similar BR, and use them to their advantage (massively improved Side Aspect lock on range) can you believe that the F-4E, F-5E, F-105D and F-111A, don’t have access to the AIM-9P-4 as a counterpart; even though they could?
Where did I say I was shot down by the guy I was fighting?
It’s normally me getting 3rd partied since I can’t keep track of so many things at once, or keep scanning for threats and maneuver properly or having to somehow deal with them without flares (F-105D, the rocket decoy trick doesn’t work as often as I’d like due to not being deployable when supersonic), or in the boat that is the F-111A. Since I currently run a US 11.0 lineup in AAB
