I actually find the Pzgr-TS APCBC shell round on the Maus to be the most threatening part about it, since it lets the tank comfortably snipe at long range at very high velocity and deal with other nations’ heavies with massive pen.

The Pzgr-TS shell is on the Maus due to technical compatibility but neither the Jagdtiger that was the vehicle who actually tested the Pzgr-TS shell nor the Sturer Emil has it. Strange gaijin logic I guess
Depends, is it in an up-tier or down tier?
Both really, the Maus can either get touched by a Shturm or obliterate a M56, since both are in the BR bracket for the Maus
Punching bag.
Anyone who isn’t new should know the armour profile and whether or not it’s futile engaging a maus and can simply drive away and go another route.
Extremely easy to kill with overpressure and is a massive CAS magnet.
A deliberately nerfed punching bag at that:

its still an icon of ww2 tank evolution. icon of all that went wrong and what was to come after.
Being a crap tank doesnt take away from its notability.
Just be aware, folks: flame throwers in-game are projectiles, quite literally. Which is also why they don’t just cook the enemy till they fall asleep from Heat exhaustion in their own vehicle.
The Maus can be reliably frontally penetrated by most vehicles from 7.0 and a number of vehicles even lower. Provided the user knows where to aim, and many don’t. Even for those vehicles that can’t directly penetrate the Maus, between the its long reload and poor mobility it’s quite easy to break its barrel and flank it. Or, with also an enormous size, it’s a CAS magnet.
But that doesn’t mean it’s useless. The threat of a Maus unchecked can do more than the Maus itself actually can. The psychological effect of its sheer size can be an effective deterrent against enemy pushes. And its armour will still protect against some guns and rushed shots, and the 128mm is quite powerful.
So threat? Yes. Punching bag? Also yes.
love the maus got my first nuke in a 7.3-8.3 match with it if you angle right you can reliably shrug off heatfs and having 2 guns means its never truly safe to peak it after it fires as it only take one 75mm shell to barrel someone and the 270 pen over pressure shell will easily dispatch anything at its br save for a few examples like the is4 but even then with good aim you can get thru the drivers port and the very left or right of the mantlet and quite often close bombs only track it instead off killing it like they would most vehicles so yes I would say it is very much a threat in most scenarios
It’s both. In downtiers, it can be a pain to deal with especially if they are around teammates (even with high-penning rounds). In uptiers, it’s usually a free kill but their 128mm roundstill packs a punch.
evolution of being a shytty tank weighing too much in resources where it could of been used somewhere else? too slow? can’t climb? CAS magnet ez kill? yeah.
Say that again slowly and let me know what you think.
good thing WT maps are flat as hell and the game doesnt simulate power loss from transmisisons.
something can be notable while also being bad or a failiure in the real world.

the pontiac Aztec was mocked and a commercial failiure, but its still notable for being part the beginning of the modern SUV automobile. Joke of a vehicle outside of breaking bad but still noteworthy.
90% of 6.7s cant kill it front on any more and the other 2 7.7s the T32 and IS4M also cant its weakest armor is 230mm now on cheeks making it very hard to kill only way is flanking very much a threat below or at its br its beyond OP at range though with 312mm of pen
All artificial, no tank except very few would climb the grades they do in maps.
It cannot, failures like the chocolate chip cookie being created by accident are iconic. A German tank weighing too much for it’s own good is not. All tanks today are fast, agile, and weight conscious for good reason, German engineering is the most overhyped lie in history.
Having an idea and knowing how to sell it in the commercial sense are two different beasts than having a head start in the military industrial complex and sucking at strategy and engineering.
heres a patton climbing a 60 degree slope

almost every tank in game should be able to climb far far steeper than allowed in game.
i agree that german tech is overhyped, has been since ww2 and still is to this day.
you just dont understand what notability means. good or bad can be notable.
on a road sure, on wet or lose rock nahhh you need to look at history and see even in todays time high tech vehicles getting owned by a few inches of ice and snow. This is a perfect example of GOOD CONDITIONS. Worlds not made black and white.
Maus was an oversized, inefficient, and waste from all accounts. The same concept as an American that drives to and from work buying and oversized work truck putting lifts and thin tires on them. If notable is being attention seeking than anything is notable and average at best.

While yes some things are super overhyped about but this isnt true if germany was so over hyped they wouldnt have done operation paper clip literally everyone took germanys tech after the war for there own stuff aswell
the maus was a huge waste of resources same with the tiger 2 a redesigned tiger 1 and panzer IV would’ve been way better
When you have an economy built around war before every nation took notice and having humans research breakthrough in technology to kill each other you’re always going to have the upper hand. If any other nation in those times took the time to do what Germany did they would of been ahead, US taking a oath of solitude before Japan strikes is proof of that (We don’t want to be in another war). Germany suffered from the wrong political ideology and stance on human life resulting in it’s own downfall. It takes more than having a strong military to conquer the world which was the original ambition.
In the end, after the fall most ran to the west due to what they knew of the soviet union, ravaged by the end of the war.
Overall, the tiger 2 was amazing and great in all it’s designs but the painter loved the waste of making things bigger and worse than it should be. It’s the same concept as why humans are amazed by oversized doors in history showing power and greatness. A show of strength isn’t a show of power.
I’m not here to discuss depths of whatever, it’s boring but overall the Maus was destined to fail. If you asked me what was the best tank of WW2 I will say the T-34. The backbone of design and manufacturing on winning a war. Good enough on it’s own, humble yet noble to strike conquer in times of desperate measures. It was good enough, operated by a people who saw an end to the German conquest of the time. It was built by Russian who cared and wanted to stop the war at it’s time. Today we see that in Ukraine, a war people expected to be over quickly turned into years of political turmoil and hope. Germany could have all the “great” technology of it’s time it doesn’t matter if you can’t rally you’re people for a noble cause. Therefore, the Maus in itself is a failure in nobility. Destined for failure in game and in life.
debatable id argue the sherman just cause it had less hicciups at the start and mid war
specifically the Sherman jumbo that things the most versatile tank i have ever seen it has a very wide arrange of capability’s
