Map design.. Why devs are doing this?

you have to be joking right?

Best thing to do is just block Alvis.

I wish I was

this will be war thunder in 2014

anyone remember being able to get on top of the mountains in the vietnam map?.. i sure do…

Wish they can just allow more existing buildings in the maps be accessible like this if they want CQC like COD but not shrink the map…lol This moment of the match was fun though.

Why don’t they make the teams on both sides bigger if they are concerned that players will not see another tank? I mean anybody but a real novice knows that you can just drive headlong into the action or risk flanking and maybe not see anybody as much ,it’s the gamble. It does not need to be forced upon anybody.

Choice was the games biggest strong point. Choice of vehicle and choice of tactics.
Why choose to ruin your own game?

Lets get a Gaijin representative to visit the forum and speak to the player base here.
Let them explain what is going on and why.

OP made a parody joke about devs shrinking maps, you then proceed to argue about what percent of maps are small, medium and large (as defined by you) and to argue with every single person who posts here who has a criticism about map size in WT

OP states (with his joke image) that they are shrinking maps with red zones… they are doing this.
There are many new layers where maps are cut down by massive red zones.

Maybe you think maps like the above are great at 12.7 (the BR I just got that map in)
If that’s the case that’s great for you, feel free to explain why or not. It’s not your job to sit in threads and argue with every single poster as if you’re a Gaijin employee and your opinion carries more weight than anyone elses.

that red zoning on that map is ridiculous…god I hate it so much… they can at least make the red zones more red…im red-green colorblind and i struggle seeing it on the map.

Some of those Zones dont even show prior to the game or even on the loading screen like the whole top quarter of Mozdok(I think its Mosdok) ,you don’t even know you can enter it until you have driven there to take a position.

I am really tired of this forced game play. As for that narrow map stuff I still quit it without playing and play another Nation. If they repeat the map the game goes off.

Not sure why you post about argument weights and other nonsense as if anyone is above anyone else.

We’re all equal, and some small maps like Alaska shouldn’t be available to 2A7V and alike.
For small maps, 2A7V and alike are more forgiving on removed Port Novo.

If you have an issue with me disagreeing with those defending the changes then so be it.

The best red crayons are those that are invisible until you get near them.

Especially if they’re downhill and in a narrow path.

Especially if you’re in a tank that has zero reverse potential.

I’ve no idea why they can’t make it at least visible. Make it solid black if need be, not that it makes a difference to see the terrain of the redzone or not.

There’s that on many maps, not just Mozdok. The most prominent examples for me are on Holland and Fields of Normandy.

I wish they showed the map borders better.

The least they could do is make the red zones follow the terrain of the map, instead of making a border cut right through everything.

A solid red line to show that definitive border could be a good thing. I feel I don’t even see the red shading as good as it should be shown.

AlvisWisla arguing against the changes Gaijin made? What will your masters think?

Can’t and won’t talk about religion on the forum.
If you mean the mortal realm, then I am my only master.

Ok and then the devs cut it in half remove any elavted postion and make it all urban. cool idea.

I was sad to see them do this to the large version of Tunisia

They did a rework making a nice quite large map. I think it needed some adjustments, but what they did was remove all elevation. So while the map is quite big for WT standards, the engagement range shrunk back down to 500m because it’s difficult to see anything past that distance on a flat map with boulders everywhere.

So while we have some decent size map as far as square km, the actual engagement ranges and available FoV of many maps is urban levels anyway with how the maps are designed.

Gaijin needs to stop trying to add maps created from satellite imagery and design something for top tier that is made from the ground up for tank combat.

If you gave them more maps, and actually made considerations for all these things that everyone seems to have trouble with, they wouldn’t need to restrict it, but that’s IF it’s does actually cater to those ‘‘issues’’.
