Making nuke not the end of the match

they cant even survive a drone these days a nuke is overkill 1000X

I take it that youve never been in a tank or AFV before, you cant see a damn thing so it is actually rather common for commanders to have the hatch open to look around. You still see it in ukraine today.

I also forgot airburst nuke dropping IRL while it is not used to kill tanks from above (weakest part) that would fry it even carries are nuke vulnerable (not really but the people are fried) like that test of battle ships getting nuked under the water they survived but no crews because radiation was too much

Would they keep looking outside if they saw a nuke blast in the distance?

it would be forced open like minlo said tho they would have to pop out and try to close it by that time its already done

I was talking about protecting the crew from irradiated dust. If you are very close to the nuke with hatches open the crew would probably get killed or heavily injured from the blast, maybe the driver would be fine.

But in WT hatches are always closed. But don’t lose the scope of my conversation, I am focusing on how it should impact vehicles in the game.

so a 55 ton tank got threw 5 feet instantly that’s a concussion ruining your shots instantly ofcourse the tank that got nuked did work and served 23 years after but if a crew in there was tested they would be cooked the crew waited 3 days before using the tank by that time the radiation was so much smaller who is going to replace the whole crew and step into a zone that got nuked less than a 60 seconds ago

The same way the tank in WT can get pushed from a bomb blast and the crew survives anyway with no damage.

This idea is just taking the cutscene and making it “playable” in the sense that you just watch gaijin’s physics break as your tank gets blasted.

No real point in adding this.

that’s unrealistic and those have no radiation no (intense) light from the blast you can go outside seconds after but if you really want this then MOAB is a much better choice

you dont really get the time to react to that. I dont think you fully get how massive the forces of nukes are

nobody uses nukes to destory 1000 sq ft area like a capture zone in real life they use the guided bombs we have in game a nuke would destroy everything around it and allies (another issue) even a Moab is a overkill and team killing magnet

I think that we are slightly loosing scope of what a nuke in war thunder is meant to be.

Regardless of how lethal a nuke is against a tank and its crew, it is basically only being deployed towards the end of a match with very little time and enemies remaining, cut further down by the time you would spend repairing the damage on your tank.

It is a mechanic to reward a player for an outstanding performance during a match and is a game winning device for either team.

its like getting 15 kills you are about to lose drop a nuke and win because of the hard work after dropped they have no counter meaning it is a victory for the dropping team I think that’s pretty simple and useful simple

its literally a WT clone of the tactical nuke from COD after all.

and just like in COD (no clue if nukes still exist in the game, havent given a crap about the series since the 360 era) OP stuff would cause nukes to get dropped far too early. My personal record is 5 mins in a ratel 20 of all vehicles.

I’m not saying it is reallistic, in game you can drive full speed into a wall and the crew is fine, thats the same effect.

I’m just keeping it consistent with how the game works currently

but you can get rammed and die still

You should be nuking a command center off-site that turns off respawning for the enemy team or like makes the SP cost for everything 10x more expensive. Something that forcibly puts the match into an endgame state without directly ending the game

Yes a valid concern. But that is rather an issue with the balance of the vehicle and not the nuke. The match would have been decided regardless, if the tank is so OP to basically “guarantee” a nuke.

That’s actually a good idea
