it would be awesome if nuke was reworked so instead of a cutscene that ends the match, which feels somewhat anticlimactic, was just another bomb with set amount of stats and different effects depending on radius from epicenter so that even if you dropped the bomb close to the battlefield this would still have an effect in the vicinity
just imagine if nuke caused a huge shockwave that sent tanks flying violently against the walls critically damaging their components and killing crew on the epicenter while turning the sky red and dusty and destroying all nearby structures, then a next circle where the shockwave is still felt like when a bomb explodes close to the tank and shakes it causing moderate damage and setting all vehicles on fire knocking out trees and smaller objects, this would change the atmosphere dramatically from city to wasteland for those who get into the map after the explosion and the effect of killing multiple enemy where the bomb has been dropped would also become the perfect reward for getting the nuke and a huge, sudden change in the flow of the battle that might turn the table for the team of whoever managed to pull it off
This would be looney tunes level stuff lol. Even if the tank flew, so would the walls at even higher speeds. If anything the tank would get hit by the walls. But at that point, you would be pretty much inside the fireball very close to the impact
But such destruction/physics are not built into the game yet, so if you watch the nuclear bomb go in your tank, all you see is an orange gradient around the map

hahah i remember there was a bug that caused colission with a tree to send you into orbit and it was funny maybe something similar could happen, the force would need some heavy calibration to be lore accurate
would be quite funny to see light tanks get yeeted out of the play area, but a nuke is going to microwave everyone within the area of the map.
Everyone is dead, theres no more to fight. It makes sense for the nuke to be the game ender.
only if you are like within 500m-1000m from impact, depending on the nuke yield, you would need to repair the tracks and sights, maybe.
If you nuke around the playable area where it would not even budge MBTs the game ends regardless.
unless they shrank the bomb a lot no its not possible
for a 5kt nuke yes. In Wt we have nukes like the mark 7, which at minimum was around 8kt and up to 61kt

a nukemap simulation based on the modern US/UK nuclear warhead W-76 (as nukemap doesnt have the mk7) estimates that thats got a fatal radius of 1.4KM thats the majority of the area of most WT maps pulverised.
just for the sake of it, if it was a full 61kt, 3.5km is the estimated fatal radius of such a massive bomb.
you can only drop where the game anticipates the bomb will land in the play area. so assume the blast is there.
What a tank that actually survived a nuke looks like:

(only reason why the engine wasnt running after they came back to recover it was because it ran out of fuel, it stayed running throughout the nuke explosion)
The fatal range for an MBT crew would be much smaller. The total destruction assumes most buildings, a tank is far stronger.
aura from that tank but the radiation would cook the crew so I don’t think in war thunder nukes would work well if they only killed some people because maps are too small that the radiation would cook enemy and allies
I think most modern tanks and even some cold war ones are protected from radiation/chemical weapons.
Most of the radiation threat would be from inhaling irradiated dust outside. And even then you would survive for a “long time”, certainly enough to keep fighting in a 5min match ahah. And thats assuming its a dirty bomb at surface detonation, else the radiation isnt a real danger in the short term.
the heat is too much 180million degrees in the center (don’t know how long that last) but everything around it even touching a peace of metal in the tank would burn
sure the tank is. Humans are still squishy and susceptible to nuclear radiation tho.
i mean older cold war tanks like M60 had radiation shielding
its not just the heat, theres the gamma radiation and the overpressure from the blast to deal with
did it? enough for a nearby nuclear blast? as in right on top of you kind of nearby.
There were survivors in the very epicenter of hiroshima and Nagasaki nukes. The 180 million degrees is just from a fraction of a milisecond and quickly dissipates with distance.
If you have line of sight and you are exposed, you will start to burn instantly due to radiation heat, but in a tank that isn’t an issue, if it survives the blast you would be “fine”.
If tanks in WT can survive 1000lbs bombs a few meters away, they could shrug a nuke off if they are like 200m+ from the nuke if its a smaller yield, and maybe 500m+ if its a big one.
for radiation yeah but not the blast if your far enough away when it hits you could drive through unharmed after it explodes
but the biggest maps are like 10 km or something(is it way less idk) that distance would cook any tank and any human before they know it and if the wind blast that close getting thrown in a tank should give you more than a bump on the head
