Best bet is this
Yup, and a very good RWR and rear-facing radar.
Was expanded for the Blackbuck raids too.
Vulcan was a good aircraft especially for it’s time. Was also very adaptable to multiple roles.
cant find number easily for b-52. but it did have decoy missiles (ADM-20) and 8x AN/ALE-24 chaff dispensers from what i could find.
B-52 and The vulcan while serving the same role followed to different strategies for operation.
nowhere near as adaptable as a B-52 though. its solid jet but not some superbomber
Originally :
1x Green Palm voice comms jammer
2x Blue diver metric jammers
3x Red shrimp S-band jammers
1x Blue saga PRW
1x Red steer TWR
and the aformentioned chaff
They are allowed to like a jet, not everything is a cock measuring contest with america
Well the B-52 has never been used as a refueler.
avro vulcan length: 97 feet
B-52 length: 159 feet
on another note, I love british cold war naming schemes, ‘red shrimp’ is a classic, or ‘purple possum’ which was a nerve agent
Ok I got a laugh out of that.
did they put over a dozen long range cruise missiles on vulcan though?
got it beat in wingspan too
Yeah me too, the Rainbow Codes make for some funny names, like the Blue Peacock Nuclear land mine
They really need to fix the tab out freeze.
Was a proposal to stick 12x Aim-54s onto its wing and give it an insanely powerful radar.
But the closest it got to cruise missiles was shrikes during the falkland.
But it was retired by the 1980s and so never got the late cold war upgrades the B-52 did. Though good old British engineering keeping the B-52 flying though
Doesn’t need to. When I say adaptability I am talking about different roles it was transformed to take. I think the B-52 is a great aircraft there is a reason the BUFF is still flying today. But the Vulcan wasn’t a bad aircraft and it served it’s purpose aswell as other purpose well.
B-1R
shrikes arent even slightly close though. blue steel missile is the closest thing imo
