Major Update "Hornet Sting" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Yeah, F-15A and Su-27 should be 13.3

Put Su-33 13.3 and leave the rest as is and I’d be happy

Higher than the tornado F3 Late and F4F ICE???

No, those need to move up too. Though I would argue the F-15A can happily go toe to toe with them once the fight is shorter ranged and the F-15A instantly wins in WVR

Correct

Also, personally, for what it’s worth, the only thing I expect out of the F-2 is that it’s an F-16AJ with access to AAM-4 and AAM-3 and a drogue chute for landing. Everything else is a bonus to me.

The only info I have is from the F-2 thread where someone posted some picture as evidence but maybe someone in the know can translate/expand on it. It mentions XASM-3, which to me says it refers to F-2, but I’m no expert:

Spoiler

Pretty much.

test AND used

F3R was in service a pretty hefty chunk of time. But ignoring that, there’s plenty of instances of Test only HMDs

  • F-15JM
  • F-4J
  • F-4S
    to name a few

The Viggen Di is just a case of gaijin beefing with a plane for, no reason.

Yes thats the document that mentions HMD for F-2 but was not added (or at least no evidence of it having it) likely due to costs or other factors.

At that point just decompress to 14.3

Yep, then the F-15C and Su-27SM can move up to 14.0.

I guess it can be seen by detailed cockpit photos. HMD requires positioning device in cockpit and helmet, it’s easy to recognize.

Yea someone somewhere else mentioned they tested it in ADTW but as you said, for cost reasons it was probably not brought to production. Now whether it was tested at all we don’t know yet. I’d assume it was but since the F-2 is an attacker and not an air superiority fighter, the HMD seemed unnecessary.

I’ve tried to look but I’ve yet to see any pictures of the device on F-2 pilots. Maybe someone else has, but if so, we wouldn’t be discussing it lol

Yes, along with the rest of 13.7

Some. A few probably arent an issue at 13.7.

Idk, 4th gen ARH 1 br step away from 4th gen SARH and 3/3.5 gen ARH is a bit much

guess whos back

Actually the F-15J(M) does use the JHMCS in service with the 92 aircraft that were modified to use it, it wasn’t just tested. Here’s F-15J 42-8949 from the 204th air squadron with one.

Spoiler

F-15J with helmet mounted display
