Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Why should Japan get it

Type 81 has a real max range of 9 km on good weather and around 5 to 6 on Bad weather since electro optical tends to be unreliable af

the adats can detect more then the type 81 can

And the ADATS has about the same vs anything not flying in a perfectly straight line, id rarely fire past about 7km even with a radar lock in any weather. It has got a radar, but the IRST is limited to the same degree.

And that is my problem there is not going to help with more and more jets and helicopters that it first has to see to even fire on

Radar means alot in beign able to detect threats that arent new players flying in a straight line at you

Comparatibely saying that the type 81 it’s better than the ADATS cuz the missile has better technical performance it’s a heavy overstatement, remind ya that the ADATS has a radar and can reliably attack helicopters and Targets flying decently far away on all weather conditions

It also gives away your position and that there’s an spaa

A willing trade OFF TO being able to see a threat reliable and NOT EYE BALL IT in a milk truck hoping not to die to someone mging you

Oh the Type 81 is the king of short range air defence
Easily the best under 8km
It’s over where it’s struggles or can’t do

The type 81 c is a crippled spaa system that has a radar trailer it doesnt come with. leaving you to try and eyeball the entire map while not dying to enemy ground or helicopters ot jets .

Yeah but calling it better than the ADATS it’s janky honestly, yeah i’ll admit the missile gets kills more easily on manouvering aircraft but it’s more limited by range and type of target aswell as weather unlike the ADATS wich it’s more versatile and consistant

You first have to see the target yes ?

I’ve not used either but from recent experience facing them
I’m more scared of a type 81 by a long long way

This is literally arguing who has the worst top tier SAM in the game.

At the end of the day, it doesnt matter. Anything with any form of guided weapon, will kill you before ever entering weapons range of either at top tier.

Neither are effective SPAA. Under ideal conditions, Id give the Type 81 a slight advantage due to longer (slightly) range missiles and FnF missiles.

but comparing which is better doesnt stop either from being bad

What we need is new top tier SAMs for all nations. Now the Type 81 can get ARH missiles Britain on the other hand… We have no idea if we will get anything

Yes, thankfully if they’re flying in adats range you can
I have many kills in my RBS70 launcher

And otomatic can see a target mor reliable then you can eyeball on it a type 81 c fleeing from a random fart killing you on the ground. You are highly limited and situational spaa that is crippled from lacking a radar trailer.

The Lvrbv 701 is in a far worse position and I bring it to top tier and do fine
I can’t kill everything bc 7km range but hey Ho

I have more success with the Stormer than the ADATS at top tier but has the same issue

Is the arh missle real going to solve the biggest issue with the type 81 c seeing a target to fire on it. My issue isnt with the ir missles beside them being general shit on helicopter they are decent missles. I want to see an air threat beyond visual range I dont want to hope i sweep over a pinprick with my eyeballs only not to be able to fire on it because i cant lock it
