Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

You can find lots of evidence online of Gripen operators using AIM-9M. As I said above, Gripen is cleared to use it, so all Gripens have 9M.

Having it in inventory or on operational status has never been a requirement, just a consideration.

This matter has already been answered when the Gripens were introduced.

And? GR.1 could carry the MW-1 container. Then this feature was removed. Do you have evidence that GR.4 could carry PGM? GR.4 is not GR.1 and GR.4 really is not experimental GR.1. And the word “upgrade” does not explain why another plane suddenly received this weapon.

Then why cant every Tornado IDS carry the same things as other Tornado IDS variants?

Because they are different variants with different upgrades.

LOL. Double logic!

just re-Name it to Tornado ASSTA without a number and it’s fine as is tbh

This feature was never in game to begin with. So it was never removed.

Tornado GR.4 removed one gun and the ability to carry nuclear weapons. Nothing more is currently noted.

It is an upgraded GR.1.

because the IDS versions in game are all technically different and based on different modification lines which means they will have gotten different Capabilities

Not at all? All Gripen variants are cleared to use AIM-9M. The same is not true of all Tornado IDS weaponary.

Tornados differ on multiple technical and software levels.

Why are German mains so keen to ruin the Tronado for other nations…If you dont get the PGM no other Tornado users should?

That is the opposite of what people are saying.

The PGM was never accepted into service in the first place. One GR1 was modified to carry it. Use of the PGM was not carried forward to future variants.

hey ,sorry to bother you, but i want to know what’s the developers’idea on
Brimstone - Average speed far to low // Gaijin.net // Issues
currently it flys so slow ,all is because it slow down so fast

why do you keep circling into Whataboutism?

You are advocating it’s removal then?

It’s hard to write about something that didn’t exist. The PGM isn’t mentioned, just like Skyflash or AIM-120, because it was never on the serial GR.1. Let’s go backwards, where is it written that the PGM was on the GR.4?

I’m saying if they are giving it to the GR4, which never used it, then they should give it to all Tornado IDS.

I assume he’s trying to use this poor example to justify adding prototype/never fully produced or in service weapons to the German Tornado like the HOSBO glide thing and the Anti Tank Sidewinder

As Key.Aero recalls, modernization of the Mirage 2000D focused on the avionics system of the aircraft to enable it to use a number of new weapons. For air-to-air missions, the only improvement is the ability to use MICA NG infrared-guided air-to-air missiles as a replacement for the ageing Magic IIs, because the Antipole-5 terrain-following radar of the aircraft has not been replaced by a new type. However, for air-to-ground missions, the aircraft will have its combat capability widely enhanced. The Mirage 2000D RMV is able to carry and use GBU-48, GBU-49, GBU-50 and Sagem’s AASM, equipped with all-weather GPS navigation combined with precision terminal laser guidance. The RMVs will also be capable of using Thales/TDA Air-Sol Petite Taille Tactique (ASPTT) small-diameter tactical air-to-ground bombs. The upgraded Mirage 2000Ds are also capable of using the CC422 30mm Cannon pod, a shortened version of CC420 fitted to the Mirage F1B.

To use new weapons and also to have enhanced mission capabilities, the Mirage 2000D RMVs are modified to operate the Targeting Long-range Identification Optronic System (TALIOS) targeting pod instead of the ageing ATLIS II, PDL CTS and Damocles currently in use by them. TALIOS is a multipurpose two-in-one pod developed by Thales to meet the AAE requirements for its Rafale F3-R standard fighter jets. The TALIOS pod doesn’t just provide targeting capability, but rather is an asset for tactical reconnaissance as it delivers high-resolution and color imagery. The permanent vision and embedded artificial intelligence of the pod not only enable pilots and weapon system operators to perform their air-to-ground missions more effectively than before but also provides reliable situational awareness for the ground forces in real time.
