Hmm, im sure they wouldve developed their own round by now surely, especially after 2014(?) I believe it was
Unfortunately unknown, but it is known that through the purchase of VT-4 there is a large stock of BTA-4 / DCT-10, otherwise only older 3BMxy models are known, but these are only used for training purposes afaik.
They developed 3BM44U1 but it never went into production, as far as I am aware.
Summary
The Ukrainian T-64BM1M appears to use ammunition called 3BM42U-1. This appears to be 3BM60 equivalent ammunition.
It’s hard to say, Ukraine had issues ever since they started development with the Oplot, mainly due to the current conflict. That’s why they only have around 20 (?) or so, and why Thailand decided to start buying VT-4s, due to how long it would take for an order of Oplots to be fulfilled.
I hope that is the case.
An advanced 3BM44U1 APFSDS-T round developed for the autoloader of the T-84 Oplot/BM-Oplot with over 600mm of penetration. It’s status and development into the 3BM44U2 APFSDS-T round remain unknown. Rough translation: “A promising Ukrainian development, the 125mm armor-piercing sub-caliber 3BU44U1 projectile features elongated rod and new firing device. The total weight of the round is 22.1kg, the declared initial speed is 1700m/s. Some advertisements have claimed that this round provides armor penetration of at least 600mm. Developed by TASCO Corp., in Kyiv.”
This is what I found.
3BM42, there was another round (3BM44U2) but it never went anywhere.
Either way, I’m hoping the Thai subtree gets added at the end of year update. Even though I think it’s highly unlikely.
What about the 3BM44U1?
Furthermore, attempts to develop a more modern APFSDS round, the 3BM44U1 failed, as it unfortunately never went further than mockup stage. However, some data regarding its intended performance exists - ~630mm pen, 1.700m/s - leaving potential for its addition.
This was taken by a forum suggestion for the Oplot-T
I think it should still be implemented if/when the Oplot comes to the game.
Similar story, didn’t go anywhere.
I think the U1 would be fine if what the post suggests is true about a mockup. The U2 is way more questionable about if it should get added or not.
Agreed I dont think I want an Oplot running around at 10.3 like the Bhishma
Gaijin can add ammunition in the planning stage, so I believe it is possible to add 3BM44U1/U2
I hope so, if not, the Oplot would be a balancing nightmare. Unless they decide to be lazy and give it 3BM60 (hopefully not) or something like TAPNA. Both of which would likely cause some backlash and is both lazy and fake lol.
Its not really firepower, its the protection thats hard to balance. Nizh has stats that is on par with relikt and it was stacked three times in the critical areas, almost inpenetrable frontally, still powerful but can be one shot like other soviet designs side on of course. Therefore it is at least 0.7 BR better than something say, T-80U, with the same ammo applied.
It’s optics are also far better, and the gun handling I’m hoping is on par with the BVMs and Leopards gun handling. I suppose it might be fine at 12.0-12.3
Even with svir and base 3BM42 it is 11.3 worthy at least, it would be like the strv 122 vs leopard 2a6 but on soviet designs.
True the only difference is (at least if it matters at all) is that once those massive Nizh blocks get hit and blown off you essentially have T-64 hull armor under it if I’m not mistaken, unless that’s been improved. Still would likely be fine but I still hope it gets those experimental rounds so I can bring it more reliably with my Type 90s and Type 10 :)
