Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

I dunno, depends how you use it I guess?

If you can spam them off to blanket a cap/spawn zone, I can see them wrecking a lot of the thinner skinned SPAA systems/lights.

If you decide to use it with a buddy or 2… and say, 1 or 2 of you spam them out, flooding radars with these lil sods while a “real ground attack plane” comes in with proper weapons using them as cover? That could be pretty meme too. Afterall, Pantsir cant fire at you if its too busy wondering what the hell is going on with all the micro bombs.

I don’t know what to think of the Patriots making an appearance in the trailer. They are just way way stronger than the Pantsir to be a viable option for ground RB. Possibly for air RB but even then the certain death bubble is insanely huge (compared to the current Rolands)

Yeah they are great to flood radars (will probably be fun to troll pantsirs that way), but with ~30kg of tnt equivalent it’s not really going to damage a lot of vehicles. You pretty much need a direct hit to kill stuff.

Assuming we get the normal gps guided ones that don’t track moving targets.

US Air Force orders Laser Small Diameter Bombs from Boeing

They have the ability to be lased too

I read that there are seperate laser and gps guided versions.

Like I said, it will depend which version(s) Gaijin adds to the F-15E.

I get a lot of British mains are upset that the Brimstones aren’t accurate to what we know of their irl capabilities, but what Gaijin decided to do with em makes sense. The Brimstone would be even more OP then the OP Russian one, and would make top tier ground suffer from CAS more then it already does, so restricting it to the not completely busted mode makes sense.

By being a 7th rank aircraft and being at the end of the CAS line for Britain.

Nobody is upset at not having the I win button, people are upset at how gaijin, once again, are taking a British system, nerfing it by removing real life capabilities and just going “deal with it” in a way that is non conforming to how other systems get dealt with. (feels like forcing Challenger to use stock APDS all over again lul)

Near every other system with too advanced a targeting system, such as man in the loop etc get fire and forget as a “in place” system to balance them, but brimstone didnt.

It isnt reasonable when you consider that what, a dozen weapon systems used by other nations got X, but when it comes to the UK and Brimstone, no no, they cant get X, they must get Y, which is inferior. I ask you, how would brimstone be more OP being effectively a smaller FnF maverick?

I really wish people would stop making this strawman argument of “the brits want the i win button LOAL ability” when that isnt what brits are asking for lol.

Like the CR3 td is a top tier tank… Gaijin can put it whatever rank they like with its current ordinance options its marginally better than the GR.1 (it might not even get PGMs!)

Brimstone is a scary weapon, we cant keep nerfing removing capabilities of weapons we don’t like.
I don’t like that the Pantsir dominates the sky. I dont like the Leopard 2A7 doesn’t die when you shoot it.
with anything that’s British. If the game wasn’t ready for Brimstone don’t add it.

The justification from the devs when Russian Su-25 with 20km missiles routinely end top tier games.

I know, I’ve been missing a helicopter in my TTD setup for a long time.

I’m certain they’re not being added wrt being player-controlled air defence, due to being low-detail NPC assets like the Wings of Prey -era stuff on Air RB maps. Also, Patriot ( along w/ the other three kinds of static SAM site in the files ) was named as being an appropriate kind of target for anti-radiation missiles, in the dev Q&A 's where they talked abt why they hadn’t been adding that type of weapon for use against player-controlled SPAA.

I can’t say what kind of performance MIM-104 might be given, but the S-75 has already been added to the files in a way that might give a clue:

It 's obviously a placeholder, since it 's identical to the file for ATACMS apart from the visual model ( neither of which have been added yet, though the textures for S-75 are in the CDK ). Since it 's unlikely these static SAM 's will be player-controlled, the performance of their missile will probably be more arbitrary - just enough for them to work, and then whatever adjustments the design of gameplay asks for. And probably symmetrical performance between " East " and " West " type systems as a result.

Still more fair than the old AI AA and it 's timed deathsphere - atleast w/ these new SAM 's having actual missile files we can have the bare minimum of " evasive manoeuvres having a meaningful effect on the chances of being hit ", which due to the mechanics of the old system just isn’t possible currently.

And what, actually, is the problem with ARH Air-to-ground? Tankers, in the overwhelming majority, do not look at the sky, looking for a trace of a launched Maverick. And, of course, they do not counter (massively) IR missiles launched at them by launching an aerosol curtain. So what difference does it make whether a Maverick, Kh-29/38 or Brimstone hits a tank?
If the gaijin are so afraid for tankers - let the smoke screens of tanks be considered smoke-metal from some BR and work like dipoles.
For now, it looks like “not a major nation → so it doesn’t matter”

P.S. Written by “not a tanker” so I may not understand the problems, that’s why I’m asking

Also, if gaijin wanted to the f15E can carry AGM-179 JAGM-F which has a Semi active laser(SAL) mode just like the brimstone has.

The laser variant would be the GBU-39B/B. The way you can tell the GPS only and dual mode apart is by the nose, the GPS one has the pointy nose (as seen in the teaser) and the dual mode one has a round nose, as it uses the same laser seeker from the LJDAM.

Yeah good spot!

I wonder- what are the gameplay implications of stealth planes like F-117?

Radars can’t lock on them easily? They don’t show up on these…?

Guess we will know tomorrow, I’m starting to wonder if they really are going to add stealth in the first place… I mean they’re obliged to if they add such a plane aren’t they?

“What’s worse, the attacker can attack wantonly outside the effective range of any air Defence system in the game without worrying about being shot down.”

I think they will have an affect, but considering the BR, a barely noticable one as not a lot has radar to begin with.

Its the IR reduction stuff that is going to be the most interesting I think. Will IRST struggle to get a lock for example? Will it be like trying to get an IR seeker to lock onto a drone? Could this spark the start to an IR overhaul?

If the IR reduction is implemented i sure hope you get some reduction on your harriers too.
Anyway even if this is low BR i plan on forcing it to higher tiers because it will be too cursed to bring a Nighthawk with 10.0 stuff lol. I really wonder how it’s gonna do as it’s a first, i expect to see a lot of major changes during the dev server and even after the patch drops.

Please God please give Italy a Patriot System. All I want is to be competitive in SOME manner at top tier please just gives us a Patriot PLEASE.
