The basic m26 Pershing should go down to 6.3. At its current br of 6.7 it simply cannot be competitive against the better gunned and armoured variants of the Pershing, as well as constantly having to face mid tier Germany which is a really strong lineup around it’s br. It would benefit at 6.3 where it could be a good intermediate tank to help people transition from the shermans(A lot of people make the mistake of getting the m26 before any other Pershing and have it even worse because they don’t know how to play it combined with the very unforgiving br that makes it hard to learn)Especially when stock there is really nothing the Pershing can do to a tiger 2 frontally and is only effective in downtiers. In conclusion the m26 would do better at 6.3 due to it simply not being competitive at its current br.
-_-. The M26 was intended and designed to combat vehicles like the Tiger II’s. Which are at the same BR. It wasn’t designed to overextend itself into a fight where it’s the only tank driving alone.
Every time read these posts, it always ends up being the same words “I drove alone and overextended myself, plz move the vehicle down a br”.
There are also only 4 M26’s in the game.
M26, M26T99->Just M26 with rocket launchers.
The M26E1 is slightly better but not by much as the armor is the same, speed is only about a 0.3 increase, and zoom is 4x->8 rather than only 5x reload is indeed better but at a certain range makes little difference.
The M46 Patton aka M26E2.
Is indeed better, but once again the armor is negligible as it’s pretty much the same besides the rear being 1mm thinner. Reload is also the same. So once again, would depend on the user and how they use it. But closing the distance will mean nothing if the enemy has you in their sight and knows where to aim. Which is center mass.
At 6.3 it would face:
Germany:
-Jpz 4-5
-Jagpanther G1
USSR:
-IS-2
-ASU-85
-2S3M
-T-44-122
-T-34-100
UK:
-Charioteer Mk VII
-FV4005
-Ratel 90
Japan:
-ST-A1
-ST-A2
-Japanese M41A1
-Type 75 SPH
China:
-Type 63
-Chinese IS-2
-ZSL-92
-PLZ83
France:
AMX-10P
Sweden:
-Swedish Charioteer Mk VII
Israel:
-Rochev
This is 100% true. Putting it down in BR would make it more likely to face down tiers and destroy the opposition.
Where it stands, isn’t dominating nor being dominated by. It more or less depends on how the player uses it. Use it poorly->poor results, use it decently->lackluster or very successful.
What about the T26 or T26E1-1? I’m they have different designations, but they’re still Pershings…
How do you play it then?
You listed a French SPAA. Did you really just look at each tree and see what was 6.3? lol. If the US M26 goes down to 6.3 then it will most likely be facing French M26 at 6.3 - or not, because it’s a boring vehicle. The tank itself is fine, but why would you use it over the T26E5? And if you have the UFO? You’re livin’ life.
I never can resist havin’ a giggle at the look of that thing.
I got confused with the amount of AMX-10 variants there are mb bro.
As much as I’d love for it to go down, it does make sense at 6.7. It is an issue when it goes against 7.7s but where it is makes more sense.
I would rather see the Jumbo 75 currently at 5.7 go down to 5.3 so it doesn’t go against 6.7 Tiger IIs it can’t beat but that is not the subject of this post.
It’s still a very sad tank at its BR. It’s just Panther but 1.0 higher, which tbf the Panther is undertiered.
Yes, thank you! I am surprised I had to scroll this far to see Panther mentioned
The technical comparison is obvious, they’re very similar, yet these are a full BR apart due to how Gaijin balances vehicles according to player performance
M26 should also not exist at the same BR as it’s vastly superior cousins T26E5 and T26E1-1, both of which invalidate it’s existence.
Where did you read that?
No it wasn’t lol
Even if the prior statement I corrected before was true, this wouldn’t necessarily be fair regardless.
Ok? Applies to 100% of all military vehicles ever made just about.
Have you ever tried to actually compare M26 to anything else at 6.7, including the many UPGRADED pershings at the same BR? No?
it’s a lot better considering the gun actually works decently…
It’s 100% made up and false. The M26 was more of a Tiger 1 equivalent irl. It was never meant to (and literally physically could not) engage a Tiger 2.
It takes a lot of cognitive dissonance to ignore the fact the M26 was 6.3 for 5 years+ and didn’t cause issues.
It is literally one of the worst 6.7s and has MULTIPLE strict upgrades at the same BR as it that are just M26s but upgraded.
How so?
M26 makes sense at 6.7 but somehow you think Jumbo would be fine at 5.3? This community…
m26 struggles against the Kt at its OWN br…
Yeah, when comparing the M26 to the improved T26s, it doesn’t make sense how they are the same br. The Super Pershing has better armor and firepower, a reload that is manageable with just not being too overambitious, even in a brawler situation. Mobility is also still quite nice as well. And with the T26E5, it has the same firepower and way better armor. No reason that the M26 is the same br as the other two.
oh no uptiers are wiesels and the one dude trying to use a maus.
Pershing was literally built to counter the Tiger 2 and is just as good of a tank. you want to put it down so it faces comet and tiger 1.
They began development of the Pershing in 1942, way before the Tiger 2 was first encountered.
No… just… no…
Also… no… just… no…
both of these tanks can easily smoke a pershing…
I agree, considering the closest thing to a German Pershing is a panther and that is 6.0. Here are the changes in br that I think need to happen.
-
Normal Pershing goes down to 6.3
-
The m25 goes down to 6.0 because that is even worse than the Pershing and no one touches that thing, 6.0 would at least give us some reason why to play it.
-
M4/m26 goes down to 5.7 because the t1e1 90mm is basically the same thing but with slightly better armour and more maneuverable while being at 5.7
That would fix the branch of the us tree that the m26 sits on. Everything above the Pershing can keep it’s br aka the heavy versions of the Pershing.
