Not a full BR apartment but .7, and the Pershing is a substantial upgrade in essentially every metric- much better cannon, better overall mobility (it can actually reverse), better overall armour especially the turret, better handling, plus the glorious ma deuce. And that’s not even bringing up the fact that at 6.3 the M26 would be the same BR as the T25, only .3 over the M4/T26, as well as a significant number of other 6.0s that it simply stomps. It’s one of the best 6.7 mediums and does not need a BR reduction.
Legitimately, where are people coming up with this lie? It’s just not true.
If you believe the M26 should be 6.7, that’s fine, but you don’t need to actually make up stuff to justify it.
Both of those are also overtiered. As you might know, the T25 used to be 6.0. It was only up-BR’ed to fill the void left by M26. It has paper for armor, as does the M4/T26. I see M4/T26 as a sidegrade to M4A3(76)W, you lose the stabilizer for a somewhat better gun.
That’s not a high bar seeing as there’s very few 6.7 mediums. Still I don’t agree. The M26 armor and firepower doesn’t hold up, and at that point I would rather play STA-3 since at least it has HEAT-FS and autoloader, making it overall a better medium. T-44 has things going for it, like a very strong UFP virtually impenetrable by full bore APHE.
Now compare M26 with the numerous heavy tanks at the same BR, which totally outclass the M26. T26E5 and T26E1-1 for instance. The Tiger II H can lolpen the M26 anywhere, but the M26 has to aim carefully to retaliate.
I’m sorry, we’ve had this debate before and I’m still not convinced
Lota talk in here, lota debate, lota chit chat. Can we just make one thing clear: If you have been neglecting the T26E5 line - Stop. Do not proceed. Do not pass Go. Go straight to mis-placed grind jail. Get the E5.
So nerf the Tiger II. The H model has ~180 mm of armor in the turret, so it should be vulneranle to the US 90 mm gun, but in-game it’s almost impossible to penatrate the II (H) with it.
No, the M26 is just flat out bad. It belongs at 5.7 with the superior Panther.
Lets go check Wikipedia
“The M26 was the culmination of a series of medium tank prototypes that began with the T20 in 1942, and it was a significant design departure from the previous line of U.S. Army tanks that had ended with the M4 Sherman. Several design features were tested in the prototypes. Some of these were experimental dead-ends, but many became permanent characteristics of subsequent U.S. Army tanks.[5] This series of prototype vehicles began as medium tank project that was similar to, but more modern than the recently introduced M4 Sherman, and ended several years later as the U.S. Army’s first operational heavy tank.” -Wikipedia
It does not mention the tiger 2 anywhere, it only says that the m26 was going to be considered basically a Sherman replacement
it’s not though, objectively its near the bottom, if not THE bottom.
Yeah. Its literally the best tank at its BR. Its reload rate for the amount of pen it has is ridiculous.
