I dont see how that was proof it struggles to kill it. If you dont want to only go for the turret, switch to HEATFS and center mass it.
With both shots, you either outright kill it or cripple it.
I would assume it is due to the t29 having a weaker turret and much weaker hull. t29 is also premium so its stats get pulled down a bit. t29 used to be 6.7 which was stupid low.
General answer is that the t29 doesnt do well enough to end up at 7.7 while the m103 doesnt do poorly enough to go down to 6.7
I went into the test map, aimed center mass, and one shot the tiger. Why are you even aiming at the machine gun port when you have a round that basically auto pens the hull?
Every shot with AP either oneshots or takes out gunner/commander. Gun breach get hit too.
Cresting a hill would be a bad idea for any tank, no surprise. Unless they released a tiger 2 that is 0.5m tall?
No tank is usually hard to kill in perfect conditions
The only reason i tested this was wondering why some shots i make with 90mm APHE that kill tiger 2 dont when using 120mm, as its at BR 7.7 and has a 19 second reload it should be a boom stick not a pea shooter
Because penning anywhere else is 2 shots.
Gun port at the angle it spawns in at hits ammo. Its the only place without moving i found other than turret pixel.
Where if you shoot at middle/ right side the drivers big head/ extra armour or whatever other reason just makes any ammo your round hits yellow/ orange and never even once 1 pop
If you hit center mass, yes. That is assuming that gaijin’s rng doesnt decide to screw you over. (me deciding to use the t29 in the test drive and watching one of the APHE get eaten by the tracks on the turret)
Aiming at the machine gunner or drive will not work.
Not going to say that it will 100% always one shot. Certain angles make it more/less reliable.
M103 does need a reload buff but calling its gun awful is not really correct. It just suffers from the same issue that all AP/HEAT using tanks have. Though its AP does wreck anything you can UFP.
APHE is broken and the playerbase refuses to get it fixed. While it does pop the tiger, I personally dont like those shots at range since it is such a small target compared to what you can hit with the m103.
In close range fights, t29 is much better. But against tough targets at range, m103 has the advantage.
Its a weird tank. It is similar to the t32. Good armor and decent mobility with a good gun. But the slow reload kills its potential.
The M103 being nerfed isn’t the skill issue part. It’s the argument you used that rubbed people the wrong way I think. But also tbh, even if you made the best case argument with 0 flaws some people would still be on you like flys on crap because a lot of people get catharsis from tearing down others online to feel better so…
War thunder forums be like that
If you want to know real.consensus youtube comments never fail. You should see the hate for german AP rounds (leopard and turns 3). that players on here say are somehow great lol
Its a big reason nothing is fixed / made better too.
Tell me you’ve never played War Thunder without telling me you’ve never played WR Thunder lol… The T32 even before the M03 nerf always had more armor that was its main benefit. Even before the E1…
The T32 was also known for having a far weaker cannon with a decently long reload. It’s had 10-20mm less penetration than the German 8.8cm at 7.7 which is objectively a terrible trait.
Its niche was being extremely well armored in the turret without having the firepower to back it all up at 7.7. So you had to play smart or hope for down tiers. Even then. Your hull let you down a lot on top of roof weakspots many people cousin hit.
Only people who don’t play the game, or are new to the game thought the M103 and T32 were remotely comparable… The T32 was the more mobile intermediate tank. The M103 was the less armored heavy hitter. With its hull having better protection than the T32 making up for the lesser turret armor.
