LS-6 (IR) drop without lock possible?

Is it possible to drop the LS/6 (IR) or any other IR bomb without having a tracking/point lock? So just using GPS and potentially lock on after launch to a target that is at the GPS location?

if it says gnss + ir then it (should) be able to, otherwise youd have to point lock.
however i cant check atm

Gagin deosnt want LOAL atm. I think it would significantly lower russia wr thats it i guess

russia already has loal, they just refuse to call it that

How so? The russian IR missiles works in the exact same way as all other IR+IOG+GNSS weapons

you cant when you have an optical seeker IR/TV + GNSS

you cant use GNSS becasue you need to get a lock with the seeker to launch the missile/ drop the bomb

Does anyone else have problems with the high zoom on targeting pods? It seems like there is a sharp increase in zoom when I try to adjust it via mouse wheel. Did anyone find settings to solve this problem?

that has been an issue for quite a while and i remember seeing an accepted bug report about it in the past

Years old bug by now, already reported and accepted, but don’t expect it to get fixed… perhaps ever.

One of the reports: Community Bug Reporting System

The only fix right now is to bind your scroll wheel function directly to zoom axis (by default it’s on throttle I think). Not ideal, as in my case I still want to use it for throttle, but for instance want to use a key combination with scroll for zoom, which isn’t possible this way.

It doesn’t, its the same POINT lock system as every TV/IR weapon, its not LOAL

alright correct me if im wrong again, but dont ir seekers look for targets once they get within the range of the point lock, and due to the kh38s being so fast they effectively can find whatever target it was originally intended for even if it was point locked

You lock the ground (POINT lock) and when it gets within ~10km it can capture a target in the crosshair

Its the same mechanic for all IR and TV weapons, not just the Kh-38MT. Except TV weapons have less lock range (~6km for some, ~3km for others, weapon and optic zoom dependent)

But you still need line of sight to lock the ground. LOAL wouldn’t need line of sight you’d be able to fire from behind mountains and still have it acquire targets

so loal by technicality which i should’ve specified?

ive seen countless clips of people taking off for like 10 seconds and launching all 6 and scoring kills because someone happened to drive near where its point was set

Well by that logic then every IR and TV missile and bomb in the game is “LOAL”.

I suppose but i figure the drastic difference in speed is what differentiates the two because one can actually reliably be used in that way while the others need to be used in a more conventional way

Every TV/IR weapon can be used reliably in POINT mode

And rippling off AGM-65D’s right after takeoff is highly effective

The runways are so close to the battlefield, it doesn’t take much time to get into 10km lock range in POINT mode
