In theory that could work but you still need a direct line of sight to get a point lock, so you still need to fly up high enough. So its not possible to throw a IR bomb in a curve towards the enemy location like you could with a regular GPS bomb.

Has this been changed? I was reading about the LS-6 series, and they’re supposed to be launched GNSS, then IR on terminal while it’s backwards in War Thunder in my understanding.
War Thunder doesn’t have a TV/IR LOAL mechanic at the moment, have to be locked on to something to fire, ground or target
That’s a shame, I actually wish I could turn off the IR element on the LS-6s on my J-10C
