Low Tier Clubbing

What is up with all the LvL 100’s in low tier recently Air and Ground RB? Am I missing something? I’m use to seeing a few in Tier 1-2 but it seems their have been alot more in the past few days. Absolutely Steam rolling games.

Everyone has their favourite low tier vehicles, for me it’s german rank 1s with 20mm auto cannon, totally busted lmao.

Also you get more different designs and quirky things at low tier unlike MBT, MBT, MBT, IFV, IFV, TOW, TOW, HELI, HELI, JET, JET.

What do you call low-tier?

Rank 1? Rank 2?

Rank 3?

Propeller aircraft have a very different, and to many, way more appealing playstyle compared to missile jets (or even gunfighter korean jets). As such, they will play their propeller planes.

Now you might ask, why fly the BR 4.0 ones and not the superprops?

A few reasons:

  1. Planes around BR 3-5 actually fought in world war 2. A lot of props from 5.0 to 7.0 are experimental aircraft, aircraft that was introduced too late to meet armed resistance and just engaged in CAS, or showed up after the war outright. Most of the big iconic WW2 aircraft sit at ~4.0 BR. My main aircraft are the P-51 cannon mustang and the F4U-4 (I’d love to use the F4U-1 and P-51C, but it’s rank 2 and doesnt qualify for battlepass tasks and challenges).
  2. 5-7 is full of tankers grinding their CAS planes and will mow the lawn filling their planes full of bombs rather than helping you win the air superiority contest (leading to a lot of snowballing and 1vsN situations)
  3. 5-7 happens to get up/down-tiered into the Ju 288 premium spam.
  4. 6+ get uptiered into fighting early korean jets.

The inverse is also true by the way.

You can hit 11.7 or so aircraft as low as like… level 35 (Ja37C, Sweden) assuming you only play air.

In my F8U-2 (lobbies of 9.3-11.3), I regularly see non-premium players flying TT planes around 20-40 in level. I myself am level 45.

Thanks to jaded_sakura77 summarized what I’ll yap;

Lower BRs specially under 2.7 are more fun for numbers of reasons, but if you can’t deal with a level 100 player, with equally bad vehicle, the problems is between the chair and the computer,

Being a level 100 doesn’t mean you’re better than anyone, means you invested more time than others that are not level 100 or made it possible in less time than the usual number of players, compared to higher BRs, specially over 5.3 you’ll struggle with constant better vehicles than yours, bombs everywhere and more annoying features;

In even higher, specially 8.7 and above now you reached the peak, as mentioned by jaded_sakura77: Main Battle Tanks, Infantry Fighting Vehicles with annoying auto cannons and Anti-tank Guided Missiles and Helicopters completely deleting a entirety of light vehicles makes Lower BR more welcome for anyone compared to other BRs.

In my see, it’s also more user-friendly with the accessibility of weapons, specially bombs on Aircrafts, which I mentioned that everyone has access to the equally bad vehicles, also everyone has access to the annoying vehicles.

Low Tier = Fun Tier

For the first time in 9 years I have real life friends and colleagues who are interested in war thunder. I play with them through all the tiers as they work their way up the tech tree. Which has resulted in me playing reserve to 2.7 for a few nights each month.

It’s a slaughter, but such is life. The game doesn’t get any easier, players become more compitent (or they don’t)

P.S. for every player like me, there’s one or two other seal clubbers on the enemy team to balance me out.

Prefect and clean way to make it make sense for them, couldn’t have said it better.

because lower tier is fun, and high/top tier is often a frustrating mess in both ground and air.

I most often play around WW2 BRs below 7.0, because thats whats fun.

low tiers aren’t just for newbies and high tiers for long term players. the whole game is there for everyone

Clubbing seals is both enjoyable and an effective way to grind events. By using a vehicle from a previous event, like my beloved A.C.I Sentinel, the Ace of Seal Clubs, you can grind event XP below Rank III.

Now I understand it is natural for a seal to protest being clubbed, but once they realize such efforts are futile and accept that clubbing will continue until skill improves, then they can begin the process of getting good. Before long they will be a seal no longer, and eventually they will pick up the club themselves. It is inevitable, embrace it.

It is a tad unfair to be honest, but I do try my best to not bully new players.

You should bully them. The harder you club the seal the stronger it gets.

It’s not fun curb stomping the equivalent of a baby in WarThunder though. I like a challenge.

Think about it like this. By bullying the weak until they are strong you help insure the existence of the better players that provide the challenge you seek.

Also, you can do both by playing low tier with bad vehicles and meme vehicles. Make your own challenge out of it.

They cannot exactly improve if I go 20 and 0 on them :/

Sure they can. They learn where they went wrong and by witnessing you they see the heights they can achieve.

Watching better players is one of the best ways to learn the game. Personally I give a lot of credit to guys like OddBawZ for helping me get to where I am.

I got to where I am by just playing the game and learning from mistakes.
