Maybe not full elo system but a equalized level summation? If both teams have players of around same sum of levels it should be fine right?
Again, level is a bad indicator.
I’m level 82 now. I made the above post on the 19th.
All because I spam naval arcade to burn through my SL boosters to avoid wasting them AND have premium AND use a premium boat.
60 minutes in my 109 F-4 played perfectly in air sim without premium: 4 x 2500 = 10 000 RP.
A random naval arcade match, lasting 10-15 minutes. 10 000 RP.
Both progress my “Player level” equally.
Also #level 82 with 890 hours played (388 in ASB).
There’s people with like 200 hours and already level 100 because premium + ARB + jets.
Level based matchmaking won’t work
Because level ≠ skill
I have saved a couple gems to show you how absolutely nonsensical the idea of high level correlating to skill is
Not to mention we already have a br based matchmaker
Also, how well do you think a good player will do in a stock vehicle facing people of equal skill in completely upgraded vehicles?
I support ELO system and SBMM… :) Then win rates of some nations would bump up because some good players don’t need russian tech tree to get kills.
So, how will you make an elo system that works well for WT along with the br system?
Go, explain
Yeah, it’s not like SBMM is a system that exists solely to better control players and frustrate them to death by putting them in try-hard matches as soon as they have one or two good games in a row.
It’s mostly a race to the bottom; all the bad players together, great, they’ll improve just fine that way.
So how would you handle…
- players starting a new nation = reserve tanks and 0 level crew?
- players who gained a bunch of levels in Air battles, and are now trying ground FOR THE FIRST TIME?
- players that have played a long time, but find low-mid BRs (think ww2) a lot more fun to play?
Not to mention queue times getting insanely inflated
If you play lower tiers you will get a MUCH LOWER level average…there is the occasional high level player and more important the frequent players that know what they are doing…but ON AVERAGE players are not very experienced…
(in case of doubt google “AVERAGE”)
If you want to play mid or high tiers, you are no longer “learning” and there is really no need for level matchmaking…from experience on other games, this will only create loopholes and “exploits”…
WT has the BR system that will give every player a fighting chance…it works fine IMHO.
Players asking for “level based” are often not really wanting this…they “assume” it will get them more kills and less deaths…but it does not work like that…over time (or immediately in most cases) they will come back here saying the system is rigged, particularly when the “easier” targets (that usually are not in forums) disappear from their matches…
And success will lead to less success. Everyone will love that.
With 100k players I belive that you take normal br ratios like you have here and win/lose elo system… make it simple test it out if something wont work then you can tweak it…
2 wins and tryhard? my man elo aint +100 per win…
Level based match making would be awful honestly. There really isn’t an issue with the way the game is right now.
Even the most skilled players can be taken out by a low level player, it happens all the time
Personally, i dont think this is a massive issue and there are way more prevelant issues with matchmaking than just high levels playing reserves.
I like the idea, but the tryhards will make new accounts to farm the low level players…
This would be a straight awful idea, look how it turned out for the likes of COD. Id say im a decent player (can check my stats for yourself to judge) but dont really try and i dont wanna log on to get a few good games to then be in the sweatiest lobbies to exist with squads doing strats and stuff which is what it will end up being in the higher ends.
level 100 doesnt mean you are good, so it wouldnt be that bad in the most cases…
I’m not on about the specific level 100, im talking more on the win/loss elo system they suggested, which would be the thing that makes the matchmaking:
-
way longer queue times (at least towards the higher skill levels) due to trying to match the higher elo players. it would basically become a ranked play kind of thing which again, looking at games such as COD that introduced something like that, you can see how it will go.
-
making the game insufferable for casual players who are just good at the game who are then put against the people that do strats and squads constantly etc.
win/ loss system would be very stupid, since gaijin cant even balcnce their own game.
If you want an example: just look at the japanese and the taiwanese f104´s. The japanese one has more missiles and sits .4 br lower(will be missused also for grinding an event)…
you also have the dilemma with queue times and how to balance those(you can simply server hop to a less active server)…
Players will just be inactive and do other shit while being inside a game(doing shit on dc/forum)…
And now look for your fun when you only should have players on the same level…
