Level based match making

Dear war thunder

There’s been a lot of unfair matchmaking recently.
for example that lvl 100 players are playing reserve and ruining new players experience and this is why they quit quicker because they die instantly facing a war thunder vet.
So my solution to this is level based matchmaking. so when people start new they face people there level and people that have years in war thunder and a high level they face high level players too.
I think that this will change the war thunder playerrate because new players wont quit war thunder because it’s to hard for them bc there are lvl 100 sweats killing them at reserve br. this wil also help new players get more experienced quicker.

thank you for reading this topic and i hope you have a nice day.

That is a good idea

This has already been discussed in numerous topics.

The level in the game is an indicator of time spent on the game, not an indicator of skill level (personally I reached level 100 by only playing planes, I only started tanks afterwards, does that mean I have the skill level of a player who reached it by only playing tanks, no), in the current state of things introducing a level-based matchmaking system would penalize many people.

In addition, this would make starting new tech trees practically impossible. Let me explain: if you’re level 100 and you want to strart a new tech tree, for example, the air force of a country you’ve never played, you’d need enough players of a similar level to yours to even start a game. Sure, for air force or tanks it’ll take a little while, but you’ll eventually find a match. But for naval battles, which is much less common, it would simply prevent players from playing certain Br. That would just be the end of certain game modes at some Br.

You realize that player level does NOT correlate with skill AT ALL?

Why?

Reason 1:

Player level is acquired REGARDLESS of what you do.

I can play a thousand hours air sim games, then go and try to play ground arcade and be absolutely useless. Even going into adjacent air modes, the skills don’t transfer cleanly. None the less, that thousand hours will make me level 100.

Reason 2:

Player level is acquired REGARDLESS of how you do.

All that governs player level is RESEARCH POINTS. Not performance. Not K/D. Not even playtime!

You can have someone who played 100 hours with a premium account and a premium jet in air RB and have gathered the necessary 14,482,500 RP.

You can also have someone who plays non-premium fighters somewhere like SBEC where your max reward is capped at like 2000 RP without, 2500 with landing per each 15 minute interval using rank III and Rank IV fighters.

I’m level 74.

I have also played 820 hours.

Let me reiterate: I’m level 74 with 820 hours.

Why?

358 of it is in SBEC with very low maximum RP gain

Meanwhile there’s people with just 200 or 300 hours of TOTAL play time who are level 100 already. Why? Premium acc and Premium vehicle.

Just with sim alone, let’s say you’re flying the mig-23ML (buy it at hour 0). It has an RP economy of 2x250%. my Bf 109 F4 has an economy of 1x136%. Let’s assume we both get max RP gain every 15 minutes and we also land. So, they get 2500/136x250x2= 9191 RP/15 minutes.

Let’s give them a premium account as well. 9191x2 = 18382 RP per 15 minutes.

Goal: 14,482,500 RP

109F4 from 0: 14482500/2500x15/60= 1449 hours
Mig-23ML with premium from 0: 14482500/18382x15/60= 197 hours

… Do I need to say anything more than just showing this calculation? (Why use sim as an example? Because sim has a fixed maximum potential reward for fixed time periods that can be easily worked with and cannot be exceeded except with boosters. Also cross-checked my mig-23ml calc. A10a with its 226x2 RP modifier and premium acc gets 17060 RP per 15 minutes when landing per heliboy’s sheet: Community Bug Reporting System. So, it’s within range for the 2x250 jet)

I want them to increase the system to level 1000 or beyond, I’ve been lvl 100 for years now. lvl 100 can mean noob or pro it sucks

yeah i get you but i still think people can learn and new players don’t aim for sim battles (from what ive seen) yeah but i totally get you its that it atleast takes around 200 hours but thats still a lot of time that one person can learn alot of the game But another idea of mine was that they should add a gamemode or smth that you can play until a certain level i think that’s the least they can do

thank you

Match making is a good idea. Your level is kind of an arbitrary measure of what players to be grouped with though. It would have to be a new system… like Bronze, Silver, Gold league… based on…? I dunno’ kills vs br … or w/e.

yoo that answers got me thinking for like 3 min lol thats creative but i do get you but what i find is that they should add a gamemode that you can play until a certain level but in this case recommend the amount of k/d you have on the air force of a nation or the amount of games you play (a reasonable amount to get decent to the game) or they should let player go above lvl 100 and see were that goes.

thank you have a great day

yeah something like that like a gamemode you can play until a certain level or amount of games you played on ground or air or somthing like that

Thank you have a great day
