Level 100 players on low BR

Honestly, since according to others, level can completely be thrown out since it doesn’t matter

How about a SKILL-BASED instead of a level-based matchmaking system
There’d be two ways it could work:

  1. Analyse the general K/D ratio of a player (ex. if a player has 0.5 K/D, they’d be put in a game with other people who have an approximately 0.5 K/D)
  2. Or a more comped system, where the game would analyse K/D based on the current lineup the player has (ex. if they have a low tier lineup with a high K/D, but a top tier lineup with a low K/D, when playing low tier, they’d be put in a game with other people who have a high K/D, but when playing top tier, they’d be put into a game with other people who have a low K/D)

Second option I’m all for.

It accounts for the incomparability of BVR combat to gunfighting with 0.4-0.6 TWR piston aircraft.

It accounts for incomparability of someone good with planes but bad in tanks and viceversa.

I’d just make it mode-specific as well.

So:

  1. Personal performance
  2. BR bracket range (or rank. Say 1-5 (gunfighters), 6-7 (IR, SARH), 8-9 (ARH) for aircraft)
  3. Vehicle type
  4. Game mode

Easily mega inflated by playing overpowered vehicles
Also, bots in air RB can count towards vehicle-specific stats

How will this affect high KD players stockgrinding btw?

  1. The first option is honestly quite bad to be honest

  2. Haven’t thought that out yet, but it wouldn’t change much, since I imagine the game would use the arithmetic mean of the K/D on the vehicle in the lineup
Might be kind of flawed, I know, but it’s really hard to separate players with low and high skill in this game

Edit: since a completely stock vehicle has a K/D of 0, I will assume that the game would either put you with other people who just started the stock grind, or with people that have an impossibly low K/D ratio (e.g 0,1)

So the more skill you get, the worse your results are?

Not really

How I imagine it is the game putting a 2 K/D player a game with people who have a similar K/D to theirs, like 1,9 or 2,1
So you’re not just going to fight a player with a K/D of 6 (dear god) as a 2,5 K/D

I mean optimal situation is you facing someone who has an equal chance to kill you if you make a mistake as you do to kill them.

It is a bit fuzzier in an open match but the notion persists.

It is more fun to face an opponent who makes you do your best than to shoot a poor new guy trying not to stall their plane.

Lobbies where both sides’ top players got like 10 kills and 5-7 deaths (and there are 5 such players on both sides) are way healthier than a lobby where you spawn in and get 8 kills and 2 deaths and those 2 deaths were because you foolishly thought a 109 shaped plane is your friend so you focused on the mustangs (when in fact it was a finnish 109 and shot you in the back.)

“Woohoo it’s so fun dying for the 34th time without killing anyone woohoo”
No player who actually grinds thinks like that

People like me get fun from unlocking new vehicles by annihilating the enemy team, not just driving tanks

you get fun grinding? Your problem, not mine.

Every group within your model would have a KD of ~0.5 or people would leave it for another group. The only way you can deviate from 0.5 is in the very top or bottom group as well as by system determined tolerance within groups.

(You haven’t really spend much thought on this, have you?)

Fair enough

I said it’s flawed for a reason
It gets tricky once you have more than one vehicle in the lineup with drastic K/D differences

It has nothing to do with that. You get this problem in air RB as well. For every kill, there is a killed. Groups of equal KD will have to be at 0.5. Math.

Indeed
But as the previous person said, you actually have an equal chance of killing someone
And not a coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb type of situation

So if you get better and improve your play,…

No thanks.

“Better”
Do you become better from fighting a person with 60 million score, 20k ground vehicles destroyed, with a K/D ratio of 3, that camps behind your fucking spawn or on the other side of the map?
Because that’s what I have to put up with as a low K/D player

Not tell me your math here, how and why does everyone need to have a K/D of 0.5 for my system to work

So those who wont would get to fight with each other untill they get 0.5 again to get them fight with worse players. And by that cariousel the balance is created. Thats how COD balance now works. But i guess you thought it through better than EA.

Sure! All the good players were in your shoes once. They didn’t start on top of the food chain.

How would this work with assists, or in ground games CAPs?

Players using certain vehicles might have few kills but a lot of assists (think UK solid shot or Heat) and in ground the lighter tanks might get a lot of their scoring from CAPs and scouting.

KD is only a small part of the ground scoring. I’ve seen players in battles with 6 or 7 kills and 0 or 1 death. But their team lost because they would not leave their camping spot, even when enemy team had all 3 caps. Are they “good players”?

We can use silver lions instead.

Also @Dodo_Dud make it so it is weighted by your opponent’s stats.

Ergo like elo in tss/tournaments.

Altho it can get funny. Like one tournament i won teo games, lost 3 and my enemy didnt show for 2.

… my elo went up.
