Let's talk, the J6K1

This is meant for the J6K1 in Realistic Battles.

I was an avid player of the J6K1. It is my highest killing plane in Japan followed closely by the A5M6 Ko. I loved the J6K1 and loved playing it, but now? It’s completely and utterly useless, and I only play it once in a while. When I first got the J6K1, it was sitting at 6.0. The plane was very good and I did agree that it did need to go up in BR. It went to 6.3 after about a year of owning it. At 6.3, the plane was still fairly decent and usable, but wasn’t as powerful as it once was. However, not long after it went to 6.3, it was moved to 6.7 and that is where the problem line.

Performance:
The J6K1 does perform very well, however at its current battle rating. The J6K1 is completely useless. Its flight performance is good, but against jets? It’s like being a turtle in a race against rabbits. Many times I have had fights with jets only for them to just turn and run away. I couldn’t do anything to them as a prop. I just had to let them go and find another target. Due to its slow speed, acceleration, and bad ability to maintain speed compared to jets. It is typically to be the last one to arrive on the battlefield and by then, the match is mostly over. Done nothing, earn nothing. What’s even worse is that due to your slow speed, allied jets can just come in and take the kill. Now you have dived and lost all of that altitude for no gain. These are common problems I have in the J6K1. As such, the J6K1 does not have the flight performance to face or fight with jets 7.0 and above. Even with 7.0 jets, it will struggle.

As well, with the recent addition of automatic flaps, this does not allow you deploy flaps above a certain speed and they will automatically deploy below that said speed. The flight performance has gotten worse with this addition.

The J6K1 can also not climb well, after 8k ft, maintain speed well, or make it any sort of true threat toward jets.

Other Planes are better:
The P-51H-5-NA,F2G, Ta-152 H-1, and Ta 152 C-3are aircraft that sit .4 to .7 BRs lower. Yet have better flight characteristics and capabilities that make them capable of fighting jets. Higher top speed, better at maintaining speed, and even gaining speed in a dive. Yet they maintain a lower BR over the J6K1? Those aircraft are far superior to the J6K1 other than turn speed and maybe firepower.

There are problem other aircraft I did not mention that follow the same suit.

The times I do get matches 7.0 and below, which are uncommon, I do well in, but still die every now and then.
There are many other things I am missing, but this truly is the straw that bites the J6K1 the most. What I suggest is putting the J6K1 to 6.3 and increasing its repair cost between 8000 to 12000. Which is comparable, if not higher than most aircraft at the same BR of 6.3

And I was happy because got it in the snow stuff, bruh

Holy… it is 6.7?!
Hahahah, the absolute state of Japanese BRs.
What can it possibly do to a He-162 which is at 6.0?
Unfortunately the playerbase that dies to headons will keep dictating BR ratings for planes. Truly sad. See you in the next thread when the J6K gets moved to 7.0.

I’ll be honest—the plane is and always has been incredible. However, much of your success can hinge on the inexperience of your opponents to some extent. The screenshot you see is from a game I played earlier today—an exceptionally good one, I’ll admit.

As a rule of thumb, aim to force high-speed turn fights against anything except American prop planes (P-51, F4U, F8F), and you’ll fare well. You can outaccelerate Spitfires and TA 152s, and even outturn TA 152s at medium to high speeds. Surprisingly, full uptiers often turn out to be advantageous. Most players at that BR level are clueless about flying jets—they’ll try to turn fight you. If they play smart and attempt to energy fight you, simply evade and aim for a ticket win through ground-pounding. Typically, after the third or so evasion, most players grow impatient and will attempt to turn fight you.

Unfortunately, the BR is highly competitive. It’s essential to know the strengths and weaknesses of every matchup. If you don’t want to invest the time and effort to learn the matchups, just play aggressively. Stay close to the main fight and focus on assisting your teammates and third-party enemies.

35k rp to 1mill sl is crazy. this econcomy (although it be the best state is has ever been in) is still something else

I used a 500% SL booster and a AAA order, which tripled the SL amount for air kills. Without boosters and orders, you’d still get around 200-300k.

ok I didnt know that

I think it’s a fine plane. Even if the jet pilot is good, you can just abuse the fact you’re a prop and don’t need to accelerate as much, as well as your amazing cannons.

Personally i had a good experience even against 7.7 with the J6K. It’s like the hunter, being not exactly the best performing but extremely powerful armament with a lot of ammo.

As for the P-51H, Ta 152 H and F2G, they are all undertiered. Ta 152 C is just outright worse than the J6K so i’m leaving it out.

This doesn’t apply to all aircraft, so it just ends up being disadvantageous to specific aircraft.

I don’t see a problem with it going to 6.3 as it won’t change much. Repair cost is lower because it’s a premium vehicle.

2 MILLION SL is ludicrous, gg.
