History and introduction
2007 year, when the war with terrorists is on heat, Germany military ready to deploy Leopards 2 in conflict. For this was specially created program (Urbane Operationen)
For this program was taken 2a6m chassis with additional armor in chassis (uses Mexas-H technology). There was planned around 160 leopards to PSO-VT (urbops) standard. The prototype of this was built in 2009 and tested by Bundeswehr. It got approved, but not in all specifications. The L/55 gun still on prototype and was modernize for DM11 (High Explosive Air Bursting).
Later the PSO-VT prototype get used to rework in 2a7+, which includes 3 gen thermals imagers for gunner and commander (attica and attica+ ), cooling system and command systems for integration
Leopard 2a7+ created from PSO-VT upgrade kit was showed in Eurosatory 2010. It was tasted in Urbops configuration ( additional armor) by Bundeswehr. There was a plan to upgrade a 50 Leopards to this configuration. The name of Leopards 2a7+ includes modular upgrades for it (even planned FLW 200+ (rh-202) for it). There tank is ready for low activity conflicts (tanks battles) and high activity (urban warfire with it hidden theats)
There are two variants:
- Leopard 2A7+ Duel Operations : demonstrator for tank duels
- Leopard 2A7+ Urban Ops : demonstrator for urban warfire
Firepower
The Leopard 2a7+ is equipped with the 120mm smoothbore L55/L55a1 cannon which can utilise a variety of ammunition.Quality of thermal imagers was also increased. PERI RTWL ATTICA+ for commander and gunner gets ATTICA (3+ and 3 gen)
As for additional weapon it stated for planned rh-202 with planned FLW-200+ (it shares same mount and control system as FLW-100/200)

Protection of this Leopard is pretty similar to the STRV-122 series as uses it same the Mexas-H protection package all around.
