Brawl battles as seen in the past are almost impossible to see now, at least from my perspective. According to Gaijin’s logic, every tank must be able to be frontally penetrated without much issue, which literally makes heavy tanks almost completely useless.
Bring historical matchmaking back!
I don’t see any reason why a WW2 tank should get molested by ATGM’s or any cold war tank.
Remove the current BR system, it’s flawed and does NOT make any sense to give a vehicle a battle rating, just to send it in battle against a far superior vehicle.
If I wanted to que up for a, lets say 6.0 battle, then I expect to play that BR, not 7.0 or 5.0…
No idea why the playerbase is just letting them get rolled like this without a fight against the developers.
But thats just my thoughts,
That’s not a problem of the BR system itself.
The problem is how the BR system is used, and how some BRs are just nonsensical.
Historical matchmaking by itself would be horrible and unbalanced, because real life is unbalanced as nations constantly try to one-up each other massively. At any point in history, there are nations that just have “better” tanks.
The complaint is that late heavies can face ATGMs, but historical match making would make it so a P-51D-5 could face an Me 163.
Excuse me what the shit
No
Wtf
Begone
Historical matchmaking will never be balanced, otherwise you would have the f***ing Pbv 301 at 8.0 or something
I could care less about arty and scouting, they more or less have no benefit to your tank specifically. Being mobile and having a somewhat small size are variables with a wide range, with both factors for most light tanks not warranting having terrible guns.
No, it means heavies have to actually use their brain while playing, using terrain and obstacles like everyone else does.
The M18 is a tank destroyer.
Again, I have no idea why you think arty and scouting are so good. They are abilities meant to either help out your team or maybe, in one out of every ten games, get a kill.
If you don’t want your heavy tanks to face HEATFS singers from 20 years into the future, we need some way to make those vehicles viable as an option to play at a much higher BR.
My idea would be to rework and expand the class of Reserve vehicles in this game. They would cost no SP to spawn but would have a fixed, limited number of spawns (2 seems good). That way something like the Ikv 103, with its 400mm pen HEAT, can be put at 8.0, for example, and still have a place in the game.
The 6.7 game is pure excrement, heavy tanks are so slow that somebody on your own team will have 4 or 5 kills while you are still on spawn doing 3mph.That is so depressing that its enough to make you leave the game before the enemy even has the chance to hit you up the rear in a 1980s AFV.I have no interest in listening to forum fantasy, the game becomes a dog turd at 6BR onwards especially with a full line up of unmodifed vehicles.I would have more fun plaiting dogshit.
Interesting proposal, but it would absolutely gut trees that need the postwar tanks for lineups. Honestly its just fine atm, anyone wanting a Pbv 301 at 8.0 is schizo
It would need to be done on a case by case basis. Postwar tanks that use WWII tech only are fine where they are. Tanks like the ARL-44, Pbv 301, and Concept 3 wouldn’t move, but the Pt-76, Ikv-103, and Ratel 90 would.
The game is too broken to introduce any kind of era separation really.maybe they could cut it at tier3 ,but its too far gone now.
Ah yes, the incredible, massively overperforming powerhouses that are the PT-76B, Ikv-103 and Ratel 90. Surely, these titans deserve to fight first gen MBTs at minimum.
Where would these end up in your system? What infinitely more capable vehicles would they be asked to fight every game? Who would even play them?
Still fast enough to totally @#$$ your game up when your heavy does 12mph tops. Basically they generate ODL and thats all they do.
I don’t think this really needs to be moved. I’ve played it before and it’s kinda clumsy, especially in all the new city maps. I can’t get anywhere without Austin powering myself. May just be skill issue on my end though.
The PT-76 has completely average mobility for the tier, most medium tanks can keep pace with it just fine, and the Comet even outpaces it.
The Ratel is actually pretty slow, it’s got a heavy tank level power to weight ratio of just 14 hp/t on top of being a wheeled vehicle, meaning it’s mobility is even worse off road. You know, the exact kind of area you’d want to be flanking.
The Ikv is the only one with above average mobility, but what exactly can you do with it in a casemate with paper armor, slow gun handling and a massive hole in the frontal armor?
None of that late cold war pish fits with early cold war heavies especially when you have full set of new unspaded vehicles to contend with.Made me stop at 6.7 for over a year, just couldn’t be botherd.Im playing 6.7 Russia but God its boring and frustrating and my CAS tops out at 5.3 and im spawning 8 miles out on a 7.7 uptier
@Aegis270 clearly doesn’t seem to understand what he is arguing with.
He appears to be under the impression that we are saying that these vehicles are overpowered at their current BRs (they are not).
Again, these lightly armored HEAT singers are mostly balanced at the BRs they’re currently at.
Since from my experience on these forums, this might not be enough to clear all doubt, I will gladly re-iterate my point again: those vehicles are not OP at the BRs they’re current at.
Hope this clears things up a bit. :)
Its as much about game immersion and general happiness as anything else.Im sure apart from the ammo issue being killed by a Puma at 3.7 br is just as frustrating but its all WW2 so somehow easier to accept.Maybe many of us adults can only justify playing a game to ourselves if its viewed as historical, educational or vaguely realistic and adult. The era mix shatters that illusion for many.its just a silly kids game past 5BR for some.
So in other words, you agree that they’re balanced at the tiers they are currently at. And it therefore follows that if you move them up to up, you’d be making them perform worse. Move them up enough, and they become unplayably bad.
You’re legitimately arguing that the Ikv-103 should be at the same tier as the Leopard 1, as if they’re anyway comparable. Giving them free spawns does nothing to address the hilarious power gap between the two.
Hell, we have trouble enough trying to convince players to spend all the SP they get instead of one death leaving, I don’t think offering them borderline unusable fodder, even at 0 SP, is going to be all that tempting. Why would you even waste a crewslot from Sweden’s excellent 8.0 lineup to slot in something that terrible?
I have been on this game about 5 years and never bothered to go past 8BR due to the mixed up nature of it.I played Isreal and its a sad mix of old tanks and ATGMs etc.Just no fun at all.Just feels like its a failure to me.I have seriously considered buying a good top tier premium and skipping the mid tier tedium.Made me think, have you ever considered that all these alleged newbies who only run one tank at top tier are not fresh faces but bored and lost old timers who couldn’t be bothered with the long boring grind and era mess mid game.
I dislike one death leavers, but this probably not relevant to this topic. People with the will to keep fighting will gladly take the opportunity to respawn for free.
I wouldn’t say that these vehicles are “unplayable”, even in a massive uptier of 2-3 BRs. Yes, you wouldn’t be able to solo the game like you could in a proper tank, you will need to change your tactics to support your team who still have their heavy vehicles instead.
You would choose such a teammate and operate as a flank screener, protecting them from flanking, even if all you can do is to die and give them a few precious seconds while the enemy is reloading to get into cover.
Or you can go and rush into an enemy cap point to decap it and make enemy players waste their time recapping it.
If you’re too slow, you can play defensively, sitting in the ambush on a critical intersection, waiting for an enemy to drive by and nailing them in the side armor.
If people can take a BT-7 or an M22 into a top tier game and do almost as well as in a proper tank, you can certainly make use of these Reserve vehicles to help your team to win.
How often do you make use of all 5 slots in your lineup? 1 plane, 3 mainline tanks and 1 reserve seems like a pretty good combination.
