Most of your ideas are great and I support them, but not a single one is able to solve the core problems of ARB I would adress:
the connection to all other modes, especially GRB, relating to ressources. You only have to check player records to see the bunch of players abusing ARB only to gain ressources for their preferred mode.
a totally paradox reward system.
In my opinion a pure public server system is uneligible for a mode which NEEDS a certain level of teamplay.
The possibility new players can enter the game at higher tiers.
I didn’t touch on other aspects besides compression and gameplay on purpose. Rewards and matchmaking are a whole different beast and it would be too much for one thread. Even here we have split convos about different things in the original post.
Do you mean you would not allow for low tier players from entering high tier matches?
There is not place for them in the current meta. Its either make them stupid op for win matches or make them irrelevant and thing people just grind to use on GRB. I don’t thing they could even have a place in an EC mode.
2 years they used to have an impact in the game. And was the worst to losing a game because the enemy team just destroyed some AA. No fan and never will.
We definitely don’t need CC’s as some kind of middle man, as they can be as biased, ignorant and fallible as everyone else in regards to the game.
I don’t know the outstanding majority of the CC’s that even make content for this game, let alone watch even a handful of them; Not to mention that the few I do watch don’t even fully represent me or are people I agree with 100% regarding the state of the game.
They have no business being in a position of representing the playerbase. They do not deserve that authority nor are they capable of handling it properly. They are welcome to voice their opinions and stances alongside us, not above us.
Could certainly add 2 spawn locations to some BRs.
Having everyone take off/spawn from the exact same spot AND knowing exactly where that is makes the matches very linear.
Fly → Turn Left → Engage - > Defend → Furball → Die. Go again.
Maps don’t really change this pattern too much, its just the same again and again.
Also I notice when grinding ARB that its the same 3 maps all day and night, over and over until my eyes bleed. What is the point of having so many maps and layers if you just spam the same garbage over and over.
Why does it take the community breaking out the pitchforks and torches to get Gaijin to do anything that isn’t directly connected to a premium they can shill.
Gaijin really leaning into relying on grind addicted and completionist whales to keep their entire company afloat.
Your entire revenue model is irritating your customers and then offering them a way to buy their way out of the frustration and suffering. Maybe just try making a good game that people enjoy and stop relying on having a monopoly in a niche market.
Put yourself in the shoes of a developer. How would you rebalance the game for 16.0 or more? It’s not just adjusting BRs anymore; you’re adding entire BR brackets. I couldn’t imagine how difficult it would be to completely rebalance the game. 15.0 would be a massive change and would require sweeping changes across the board anyway. Threads like these do nothing but make ignorant voices louder. The game has serious issues. The developers are keenly aware of the real critiques of the game. Player action in War Thunder has historically led us to the same conclusion: ignorant changes pushed by the mass of low-skilled players. Remember the changes to victory rewards? The community successfully made the game much more difficult to grind because they were incapable of doing basic math.
It’s almost as if that’s their job as game developers.
But oh no think of poor Gaijin. They only released 2 copy paste premium Hornets and one cash grab squadron F-16 in the last two updates. And they only broke major systems twice this year.
I cannot thank you enough @themadseventeen for specifically including poll questions on “requiring nonfighters to win” and “is the existence of fighters winning rounds by themselves a good thing?”
This, above all else, is why gameplay of everything but meta fighters has been allowed to rot. Nothing other than a fighter was needed. Since fighters were most efficient at winning rounds via TDM, soon people flying non-TDM-oriented planes became seen as “flotsam filling up fighter slots.”
No single objective should be able to win a match by itself. Instead, it should be a “best 2 of 3” sort.
As different factions in the community have different preferences with what they each think should be most important to victory (with associated valid arguments in most of them, except any and all about “skill”), the only way to truly balance the plane classes and to encourage intelligent objective design in all three main areas is to take away the possibility of winning rounds from each individual one. This forces the disparate classes to work together, whether certain self-centered diehard fighter mains look down on nonfighter users or not.
How about to address the clear and obvious issue here, instead of making Air RB one spawn, why not instead make it one death?
Then, if you get in a situation where you took a fighter, the enemy team has been blown to bits, and the match is still going because tickets still aren’t in your favor, and you can then go land on the nearest airfield to grab a good attacker you brought in your lineup?
Thus you still get the variety which lineups could bring without the multiple respawns as a lame excuse by snail to gut rewards.
Whilst i do agree that the Starfighter update in March 2020 (with the Introduction of the F-4E) was the beginning of the decline, the following developments like respawning bases (May 2020) were together with the massive player increase and the large expansion of TTs with Mach 2 jets the main reason for this mess.
That gaijin is, was and will be unable or unwilling to implement dynamic hp for bases and airfields is not the fault of the players. Currently there is zero incentive for experienced pilots to use a bomber in Air RB.
But - what most players forget - without bombers there is at least for the main portion of most tech trees also no need for fighters from an immersion pov.
