while its flight performance is subpar usually by the time one spawns theres multiple other enemies in the air with good airframes to protect it the only solution is increasing the sp cost by quite a bit and japans lineup at that br is very good carrying heatfs and the ho-ri production which is very good at eating american shells before the patton series is unlocked

I don’t have stats on them. I litteraly almost never use them, so I cannot bring my stats; there isnt enough battle on them.
I use them as anti-tanks (ifrst spawn, or when the spawn is satured from enemies). When a plane is up, i usually uses a 155 HE-VT to kill it, between 2 ground kills.
And Statshark uses for the k/d the addition of ground and air kills. So neither my AMX-30 DCA, Type 87, or type 99 SPG have a k/d exploitable.

But the problem is that big mind you. Yes, A-1H and MB-326B/K also have Zunis and guess what? They are busted as hell in the right hands and frankly they need at least a .3 BR bump. This is coming from me who use A-1H rather excessively all the way to my 7.7 lineup since it’s just too damn good in turning the tide of the match, this is on a slow large single-engine attacker without CCIP mind you. The difference between those 3 and Albatross is the accessibility since its CCIP simply allows anyone with minimal experience to land accurate hits. Give it to an experienced pilot and you’ll have hell on earth.
Closed top have little meaning if it’s paper thin. The only closed tops that can reliably survive a beyond-effective range strikes are Coelian, Kugelblitz, PGZ88, Skink and most of the 8.3 AAs because they happen to have enough armour to shrug off near hits. Things like ZSU-37-2 is paper thin that near hits with Zunis will still overpressure it.
Albatross is a tad slow, there’s that for sure. However, the problem is that most people simply use it as if it had high acceleration, basically make a strike and immediately pull back to make another strike instead of pulling out of the battlefield to regain some speed (which essentially makes them vulnerable as hell since they’re just stalling up there) before making another strike attempt. Then again even if it is vulnerable against 8.3 radar AAs, there has to be someone spawning AAs early game innit? Otherwise Albatross can just smoke several tanks very easily before a retaliatory AA spawn (ever wonder why almost 4 ground K/D on Albatross is average on Statshark? Keep in mind that A-1H is like half of that).

Yes, SPHs with HEVT are indeed a very effective AA in the right hands, but it is much harder for the average player to use accurately hence why I specifically talks about regular dedicated AAs.

Also worth noting that the best SPG for AA work at the tier is the Type 99 (Owing to it’s very high capacity autoloader, high velocity shell and fast traverse rates), which the Albatross will never end up fighting since it’s on the same team.
The PzH 2000, PLZ 05 and VIDAR are all credibly dangerous despite their slower traverse rates and lower sustained rate of fire, but they’re only seen in an uptier.
There’s also the Sholef at 7.3, but that’s a pretty rare premium with appalling vertical traverse rates, so I would tend to discount that.
The rest are all slower to fire, fire slower shells, and have traverse rates that makes reacting to targets pretty difficult, doubly so if the L39 is aware there’s a howitzer up and is prioritizing it.
Also, they’re all (Outside the VIDAR) very easily killed with near misses.
VIDAR and Sholef are the only heavy SPHs, though PLZ05 with its spall liner may also survive near misses.

It cannot kill a closed top within 2 meters of the impact. Most of the SPG (M109’s and variants, PzH, Vidar,PLZ05, 2S19M’s, … ). The worst armored SPG’s are actually the Type 99, 2S19M’s and the G6 Rhino.
There are a lot of SPG with LRF that are extremely good for taking out aircraft.
You should remember as well that some HE-VT have a fuze radius of up to 7m.
And the best ‘SPAA’ SPG is Russian in my opinion, at 7.0 the 2S19M1 have a better autoloader (6s and 50 shells stored inside), a better mobility and a better HE-VT (more explosive and better fuze range); the 2S19M2 have the same but ith a LRF at 7.3. Note as well the Bkan with the 3s autoloader, the Rhino have an insane elevation and rotation speed (up to 28.6 °/s) and is on a wheeled chassis (up to 85 kph) there is as well the new AS90 that have a M107 HE-VT, and can send 3 of them in 10s (5s reload with 2 shells in the ready-rack).
i will remember you that the PzH 2000 uses the same barrel as the Type 99 so the shell velocity is the same (same chamber, barrel, and shell, the M107 PF), more armor than the type 99 (cannot get .50 by tanks or straffs) and can send 3 shells with a reload of 5s (3 shots in 10s), combined with a LRF.
So don’t try to say that Japan will never face the best SPAA, there are plenty of more dangerous ones at the same BR.
It can and will. It’s a ~9kg charge with 60mm of raw HE pen, very comparable to the Soviet S-21. You need to hit close to the target, but splash damage will absolutely kill a softly armoured target (Like practically all SPGs).
Of course, you’ll still a close hit. But even if CCIP isn’t laser accurate out beyond 2km, it’s still a decent guess and way more than other CAS planes at the tier get.
This is just wrong. Every 152/155mm HEVT shell has the exact same fuze radius of 3m. I just checked.
LRFs are generally not needed for AA work unless you’re engaging a stationary helicopter. By the time you’ve ranged them, lead them, fired, and had the shell travel the given distance, the enemy plane is likely going to be hundreds of meters away from where it was when you lazed.
All an LRF gives is another thing you have to try to account for with your lead. Better to just get a feel for the ballistics of your round and aim it by eye.
At the cost of glacial gun handling. It can be legitimately impossible to pull enough lead to hit aircraft who are coming in fast at a transverse angle, and you’re not going to be able to quickly switch from locking down a sightline to engaging aircraft (And back again) like you can in the Type 99.
Also, as pointed about above, same fuze radius of 3m, along with a noticeably slower shell. And while they have more explosive filler, I have never seen a plane survive a 155mm HEVT shell without at least a major crit.
And severely limited horizontal/vertical traverse, making it all but unusable against aircraft that aren’t taking low, slow paths, ideally directly at or away from the Bkan. Also extremely limited ammo capacity, somewhat made up for with the ammo box.
With a 20 second reload, meaning you need pinpoint precise aim, since you’re really only going to get one shot per run at the approaching plane.
Also it’s got quite limited horizontal traverse, and being a massive wheeled vehicle it’s not great at quickly turning to get the gun around.
Also good luck hitting 85 KPH on that thing, with it’s ~10 hp/t.
Mediocre traverse rates, kinda slow shells, and low sustained rate of fire given the small ready rack and slow reload when it’s empty. Not unusable, but I’d always take the Type 99 over it.
I already mentioned the PzH 2000. As I said, it’s a credible AA threat, but it is limited by it’s low sustained rate of fire, as after it exhausts it’s tiny 2 round ready rack it’s reload it’s considerably worse than the Type 99. It’s also got worse traverse rates, albeit not enough to make it difficult to use.
Also, why are you letting a plane get close enough to .50 you? You should have slapped them out of the air long before they got close enough. And what CAS pilot in their right mind is going to try to engage an SPG that’s aiming at them with .50s only?
I also pointed out that you can only see it in an uptier. So it’s largely comparable to the Type 99 when it comes to AA specifically, but you won’t be seeing it all the time.
So you are telling me that to have a kill with by example a M107 shell (9.1kg of TNT, 200g more than a Zuni) you can shoot 5m from a PzH 2000 and still kill him ?

That’s a circle of 14m that you cannot escape from.
as soon as a jet go towards you, you LRF him and shoot. Don’t need to lead since it only comes closer and the 7m radius do the work. The time you see the explosion of the barrel, react, and turn away and do 7m in a direction + the elevation of the shell while going up (you will not pull negative G to get away, logic), thats around 8-9m. Not the time for the shell to get over 2km.
Eye-balling + experience makes SPG the best anti-air for the BR, I’ve done a kill on a plane at 7km a couple month ago (I lost the replay, sadly, I couldn’t send it to Thunder Show), 9km when I shot. It’s possible to hit those.

Applying those in the formula :
v = omega * r
140 = omega * 2000
omega = 0.0694 rad/s = 3.98 °/s.

The worst turret turn rate is 10°/s for the 2S19M1.
Put that in the formula, and it can track a target flying at 500kph at 796m precisely.
Target at 700kph (won’t happen in a GRB at 7.3) : can be tracked by a turret turning at 10°/s max at 1.1km range or more.
So no, it’s not ‘The type 99 is by far better and is the only SPG that can hit a CAS jet and track it with it’s mach speed turret turn rate’. Every arti can do that. and you cna move the hull as well.
Fuzes are historically accurate, as shown by the accepted bug report on the manual of the M109 with the M107 PF. By example, the HE-VT of the Begleitpanzer 57 is 6m.

You don’t need 14 rounds (not so limited) to shoot down a plane unless you’re terrible at the game.
Not me saying it, the great Dollar Play says it at each SPG video. And the gun handling is great. And I’ve tried, only downside is the 15s reload, but everything esle is nice on it.
The first 3 shells are shot in 10s, which not only very good, but the reload after is 7.5s, which is the same as the type 99.

This is, quite literally, a bug report. It’s saying that the in game trigger radius is 3m, unlike what it is supposed to.
Just because it’s accepted doesn’t mean it’s implemented. There are probably thousands of accepted and yet not implemented bug reports on that site.
This doesn’t take into account the angle that the plane is coming in at. If it’s not directly at or away from the player, you need to account for that as well. If he’s diving or climbing (Which he likely will be, if he’s coming in for an attack run), that’s another calculation.
What’s his speed? Is it a slow attacker, or a fast fighter with some bombs strapped to it? Another calculation.
If you think you can just hit the magic LRF button and have it do all of the work for you, you’re mistaken.
Firstly, you’re assuming an ace crew on the Msta. In the far more likely case of a full upgraded but otherwise basic crew, you’re looking at 7 degrees/sec horizontal, and just 3.8 degrees/second vertical.
Also, even with high gunner skill, you cannot train your gun both horizontally and vertically at the same time and same speed, that throws your calculations off if the target is doing anything other than orbiting the battlefield at the exact same altitude.
Also, this is not an absolutely can/can’t, nor have I claimed it was. However, the better the traverse rates, the faster your reaction time can be. You can get your gun on target faster, which also allows you to fire more shots, allowing you to dial in your aim faster. You can adjust to defensive or unexpected manuevers a plane is making, and react to planes suddenly popping up while you’re out in the map actually playing as a TD.
In short, better traverse rates make it better at engaging aircraft.
I said traverse, not traverse rate. The Bkan does not have a full turret, and can only traverse maybe 10 degrees left or right, and only 40 degrees up.
Unless you’re literally only playing it as SPAA and sitting around waiting for planes to show up, you need more than 14 rounds.
Also, I’d love to live in a world where there’s only ever one enemy plane to shoot down.
If your aim is good enough that the limited horizontal traverse and very slow reload don’t affect your ability to engage planes, then more power to you. Doesn’t change the fact that the Type 99 is just better than it.

And? This is just about why the Type 99 is the strongest SPG for AA work at 7.3. At no point have I tried to claim that it’s better as an SPG than those higher in BR than it.
