True, especially because right now the 220 resides in a bracket filled with 155mm HE slinger
Like, even if they’re bushed up and you’re in a M109,you hit their cupola and they’re dead

Eeeeeh i dissent, the Churchhill VII is the only tank that is immune to the 90mm Italian meme cannon on the front,it is frightening at times
is it? iirc it has some pretty visible frontal weakspots and is pretty easy to kill from the side
It’s surprising,i know, but even not angled, you just can’t pen it: not on the LFP,not on the UFP,not even the turret front. If you’re lucky you can hit the MG or the turret ring, and on the sides you must be extremely precise otherwise the tracks will eat the round
I love bullying KV-1Es with Achillie’s 17pdr, lolpens them with the 190mm pen solid shot.
its the only hard counter at that BR for its op armour
Anything with a 17pdr works. The Sherman firefly/Avenger deals with it in an uptier, where it probably will get molested by Panthers instead, and Achillies deals with it in a downtier
its the fucking BI/XP-50/Wyvern of ground. Blatantly overpowered but ofc it doesnt get nerfed cause gaijin makes money off of it
I honestly don’t think a slow heavy tank with 70mm of penetration belongs facing Panthers, M4A2 (76W)s, T1E1s or ARL-44s.
It is already a huge stretch that it can face stuff like M6A1 or VK 30.02 (M).
It has good armor in downtiers when perfectly angled? No way, a heavy tank’ heavy armor performing as such. Unacceptable.
People are so used to easily lolpenning overtiered heavy tanks that the moment they come across one that may be able to withstand some fire in downtiers it’s deemed to be “OP”. And you disagree, you are a “noob” or a “seal clubber”.
The only KV I believe should go up is KV-1B; because it’s the same as E, except, since it’s on the German side, it won’t face half of its direct counters, which is the German 75mm guns.
I mean 1E can just get a german player into his squad and it’s same thing. It also gets much, much better lineup on top of it.
1B and 1E could go to 4.3 to comply with “better for 1 vehicle to suffer than entire BR bracket becuase of it” rule gaijin has applied to every single competent heavy tank in existance.
Well, not anymore if it’s made 4.3.
Right now, Russia 4.0 is a very solid lineup; even after some of their 3.7s (T-34 1942) were uptiered to 4.0.
But now it’s being torn apart with VK-1S being thrown into 4.3… and if KV-1E were too, the only heavy tank available for 4.0 is the extremely mediocre 3.7 KV-1 U-11.
With KV-1S and KV-1E sitting at 4.3… the rest of their lineup would still be 4.0. Except now those 4.0s would need to face 5.3s.
Uptiering the 4.0 KV-1s is effectively uptiering the whole 4.0 lineup, unless you are willing to play a 4 4.3 vehicle lineup.
I don’t think vehicles should be balanced based on such specific premises tbh.
with KV-7 and KV-1S going to 4.3 and SU-85 already being there it will still be a very good lineup. Also don’t forget Yak-9K is 4.3 in GRB.
If such single premise can even out it’s performance with a tank that in your version of the game would be higher in BR it should absolutely be taken into account
I still find a lineup without Medium Tanks to be… odd.
You would either have heavy tanks with weak gun and not-so-relevant-anymore armor, or a solid tank destroyer (I’ll give it that).
KV-7 is kinda neat, but a limited event vehicle not everyone has. Besides, I don’t think it’s as good as the KVs, since it can’t even be angled at all, so we are looking at 100mm flat plates facing 150+mm pen shells.
Lineup without medium tanks? Why? Just take a 4.0 T-34 it will perform more than fine…
BRs aren’t strict rules, if it doesn’t affect the gameplay that much you can bring over vehicles from different BRs
I don’t think a 4.0 T-34/76 will be performing fine at all against Panther Ds, M4A2 (76)s, T1E1s and ARL-44s…
Then just don’t spawn it in full uptiers? You know what BRs you are playing at before you spawn in. You probably won’t spawn your T-34 in 5.0 matchmaking either
When “just don’t spawn in uptiers” is an argument, it is lost, in my opinion. The same used against heavy tanks ruined by compression, etc.
When you have a lineup, you should be able to play all of it in any match.
If half your lineup is rendered so obsolete that you should “just not spawn it” more than half the matches, there’s a big balance problem.
With 1.0 BR matchmaking range it’s unavoidable. For example you won’t spawn an IS-4M or Maus in an uptier unless you want to suffer.
Until BRs get properly decompressed or we get matchmaking changed to ± 0.7 this situation can’t be avoided. There are some tanks that will end up being broken in downtiers and obsolete in uptiers
It wouldn’t be with the proper decompression this game has been in need of for years.
Uptiers should be mild inconveniences, not matches where half of all of your vehicles are rendered obsolete; and downtiers should be slightly favourable, not a chance to stomp on everyone.
However, moving compression from BR to another doesn’t fix anything, which is what’s being attempted with KV-1E and what’s been done on practically every half-assed BR change. We need full decompression across the board.
EDIT: for the record, I just saw this, hahah. Made my comment before seeing it. Was it an edit or did I miss it?
