I am pretty sure that from a balancing standpoint it would be best not to let players use carriers and to just give all nations similarly specced fantasy carriers

CVA-01?
PANG?
Ullyanovosk?
Nimitz?

Sound like a plan

if we see carriers play a “major” part of naval, I do strongly suspect it will be WW2 not 1980s.

Because you never really saw carriers vs carriers in a more modern setting. Never really happened in Falklands and then you have surface ships providing air defence

I imagine if we get to the point of modern naval warfare the carriers will just be kinda generic mobile airfields, just like they already are in sim modes

Not in my pocket :p

Yeah, tha would be my guess as well, player controlled carriers seems… problematic, if its AI controlled aircraft then I just have to point towards SB on how bad AI aircraft are at the moment. Then if its player controlled aircraft then its totally irrelevant either way, F-18s would work for Britain.

But then there is always Germany and Japan. What are they going to use?

That’s why I’m saying similarly specced fantasy carriers would be best, since you are bound to have planes that require different take-off methods in the same team
Not to forget helicopters

Watching US F4s try and fail to take off from a RN ramped carrier :P

Damn ever since Ocean got sold off our only amphibious assault capabilty has been from some pretty old ships,

Argus is 43 year’s old

Bulwark and albion are 20

Bay classes are only 17 but are on the way out

The only way i can see us keeping this many ships going is through foreign designs, so we may see a mistral or america class in uk service soon

Argentina might be able to carry the DE tt for awhile, but past that both nations are going to have to rely on other kinds of vessels.

Oooh… Now Helis in Naval would be fun, ASMs, Torps and Depth charges from Carriers would be a lot easier to balance and add

I think just making sure other options were available would be fine. Instead of a carrier for Germany, you could just have Tornado MFGs with ASMs for example

Japanese pilot?

I could imagine in the future a carrier based fighter might be a generic spawn option, like how naval has generic aircraft for spawning, so that nations with carrier based aircraft would take off from a CV and nations without would take off from the airfield

WT Mobile 's system might be relevant, since they’re getting those ahead of us ( Aircraft Carriers - WT Discussion - #18 by Motherhen357 )

tldr: expanded the catapult seaplane mechanic to support control of multiple aircraft in the air at once.

It 's not even a ship …

This Argus looks really funny, all the weight in the front and a chimney alone backwards all by itself xD
how does it not sink forward? :p

Its meant to be a hopsital ship as well lol but because someone had the bright idea to slap ciws on its superstructure it would kinda break the geneva convention to be one
