Yeah, it’s a bit tricky with the Russian modular weapons systems, like how the R-77 seeker can plug into an R-27ER body and such, where do you draw the line? could do it? or did do it?
Yes, that’s back to my original point, ignoring the MTs potential existence/ non-existence, I am fairly sure that the Kh-38s are not currently carried on the Su-30s (I’m unsure if they have not been integrated or if it’s just Russia just isn’t using them on it for what ever reason), only the Su-34/25s.
While I’m not sure if limiting them to a worse airframe would be enough of a nerf, but it would be a start.
Japan has them on their SU which I heard were never purchased. Therefore Gajin is going of “well it could if it wanted to” it’s cherry picking but I want these missiles balanced.
Fortunately barrel collision is not a thing because that would destroy the fast-paced gameplay of War Thunder that Gaijin intended I.e. they’re not willing to make War Thunder truly realistic, “realism” is just a key word to sell more clicks on social media advertisement. Accepted doesn’t means that it will be implemented, Passed to developers doesn’t means that it will be implemented, you have years if not decades-old worth of things that could be implemented either is Gaijin ignoring, not fully knowing, forgetting or the game’s engine not being capable to handle, but that’s another topic of discussion.
As Kh-38 is a modular family of missiles, is hard to know 100% if they’re false or real working weaponry since a change of seeker transforms it in something else. Doubt that Gaijin will remove and the community manager made a point not only that defends Kh-38MT in-game, but others assets like Flakpanzer 341 and Ostwind II on the same thread that @Cloudzy26160 linked previously. War Thunder is not a realistic game and I doubt that realism is the key word for the game currently, as I said it’s just for looks, in the reality War Thunder is far gone to be a realistic game apart from the somewhat realistic module damage system and questionable physics that puts butter on soft slopes.
Malaysian* Su-30MKM technically is possible to use Kh-38 family of missiles, the main question is the fact that it has in the first place which I doubt Royal Malaysian Air Force even operates, this would place the airplane in a undoubtely low battle rating in ground battles.
I agree with everything you said. 100% on board, from this alone the KH 38s need a rework/nerf. It is overpowered even in the hands of bad to okay players. The simple fact it is that easy to use alone already should be a discussion for Gajin on balance. They’re in game NO PROBLEM my only ask is BALANCE.
Decreasing the total amount of missiles you can take in a single loadout is, if not, the best answer to this issue which I think most people would agree upon. Remembering the thread that brought to light the question of does Kh-38 really exist had a supporting from the community, which as usual, given the extensive and hot topic in discussion has been closed for reasons not providen but which I believe were people derailing the original discussion.
The problem with kh 38s is the capabilities. Speed, thermals and precision. If you bring 4 you’re guaranteed 4 kills with 1 braincell wiggling. Not to mention the slaa can be very ineffective against a spam. Unless they nerf it to a max of 3 vs 6 it’s going to be a problem with the range alone and ease if landing so close
If fake tanks are not completely removed nor should these. The fact I can still go against ho ris, panthers 2, e100s already shows the game doesn’t officially remove fake vehicles. The missiles vs subpar spaa in terrible maps is the biggest problem. At lower BR it’s worse than top tier but KH38s being nerfed would be a good start
I think you focus on the wrong problem, how many spaa were spawned by your team? Because if he was flying freely it’s a your teams problem not KH-38MT problem, and he can carry up to 6 of them so the max kills he can get if he doesn’t have to worry about SPAA is 6 (7 if he gets a bomb too) meanwhile I have game were my entire team dies from one passage and the enemy plane doesn’t even uses all of he’s munitions as he can carry for example 6 mavericks and 16(+) FnF bombs, so if they are no spaa the NATO CAS is way way better and more annoying because at least in Russian one it can kill up to 6 per pass meanwhile the NATO can kill 20+. So yea it’s not a KH-38MT problem is your and teams problem that you didn’t spawn an SPAA.
You are wasting your missiles from that range because they just drop dead into ground / get shot down by aa / lose target by the time missile reaches it. Launching them from 5 km makes them much more reliable. So most valuable upgrade over b version is thermals which is indeed neat. Wanted to mention more reliable lock but 65d just loves locking dead tanks no matter what sometimes.
You just launch to the guys you see and you either just fly straight up and wait for them to respawn so you can kill them again. (I meant run not pass)
