No, i don’t know, because i’ve stopped playing it and removed it from lineup.
I haven’t played era 8 after leviathan update. I am grinding iris-t and leo2a7 now.

Well if you were playing it, and knew how to play it, and understood the shortcomings of a lot of SPAAs, youd have an easier time doing CAS. This isnt “haha skill issue laugh at this player” but a genuine critique on what you wrote.
SLM in its current iteration only works against people that have no clue how to fight against it.
Pantsir is still by far one of the most reliable SPAAs ingame, doubly so for interception of munitions (which is then also aided further by the fact that it doesnt have to face against M2.2+ Kh38 but instead against mavericks and hammers that are much slower)
Both SPAAs can be played around relatively reliably if you know what to do.
Same applies to all SPAAs ingame. CLAWS for example you just gotta stay bit back to avoid 9Xs and if an amraam is on you you can just multipath it. IRIS T SLS (EldE98) you just need to stay outside of its effective range. Ito and similar including pantsir you can dodge via corkscrew if youre going supersonic or fly low and fire off a missile from close range.
SLM you can just fire off a missile and then scoot away or fly low enough that the radar doesnt pick you up (or use terrain) until youre within close range of the launcher, at close range SLM cant do anything at the moment unless youre going super ultra slow (like, hovering helicopter slow).
Kh38 slingers are very much not hard countered by SLM if you know how to play around them
Thanks for the heads up, i guess i’ll try to abuse kh38 again
The amoount of ordnance also depletes IRIS and its two launch vehicles in no time. One F-15 might release a huge amount of small bombs and each Suchoi jet its 6 KH-38. Not every missile hits ofc…you often need to shot twice. It happens that you’re totally out of ammo and there are still bombs/missiles heading your way.
Thats something I didn’t know from other SPAAs, where you rather move off/smoke. Rather than intercepting every incoming piece of ordnance.
Another issue are ground vehicles. Thats imho the biggest threat to Iris T trucks. WT is not exactly about team play. No one is gonna protecting you. I can’t count how often scout vehicles and MBTs just drive up to you. The total inability to shot back is frustrating. In a flarakrad you have at least the chance to harm MBTs and to kill every scout or IFV. Maybe there should be a third vehicle spawn for Iris…like a Gepard.
Or… We could have much bigger maps and “enlisted style” platoons spawns, where you play as a tank and your AI spaa follows you 500m behind you as you advance. I’ve been suggesting such gameplay change, but gaijin does not want big maps
The solution to this issue is larger maps with a well designed back spawn area full of protective terrain. You aren’t gonna get WT players to work together ever, but the main problem is that in the current meta every player is encouraged to advance into enemy spawn right after capturing objectives.
Spawn points being directly marked on the map is likely the most archaic system you could have and it should most definitely evolve into the type of system where an entire section of the rear map is designated as a spawn location which would allow players to spawn wherever they wanted inside the rear and easily eliminate spawn camping attempts by essentially making spawn locations unpredictable which would in turn discourage further attempts as time goes by.
Larger maps are essential for the new SAM launchers as your ability to survive depends often on how well you can be hidden and how easily you can spread out your missile batteries without subjecting them to ground vehicle LOS.
This, in my opinion is unlikely to change because as they do in Air RB, Gaijin favors quick and easy battles for which the outcome is determined by a snowball effect in the first 2-3 minutes of fighting. Nothing angers me more about this game than the amount of wasted potential for gameplay it outputs every year.
psst and the removal of the source i made it up missile named kh38mt
The Problem
I’m have nothing much against CAS, it serves a purpose and helps game dynamics overall by preventing camping and picking out tight spots in a game. The problem I’m seeing in game is how broken the KH38s are in this gamemode and nothing to prevent them from spamming and spamming over and over again (Forget LMURS for a second)
I personally have used the KH38s in Japan and can say these are hands down the most braindead and easiest missiles to use in war thunder since I started playing. Gen 2 thermals, excellent range, and if you have a mountain map it’s 100% game over as you can easily peak and spam missiles then land as your hearts content.
From one game
It’s not statshamming but merely showing how braindead these missiles next to LMURs are for these players all game.
The entire game if you decide to go watch the replay this one person merely spammed his missiles ALL game. No nuke, no caps, no assists just rushed for some kills J out and spent the entire game on the side of the mountain peeking spamming and dropping since NO missiles on the the US/Swedish side could make it for the kill in time (This is BR 12 max for me). Spawned a fighter got 1 but with the radar missiles missiles above BR 12 aircraft it’s next to impossible getting these people at a distance. Flanking no, spawn and spam. Capping no, spawn and spam. He would land and at BR 12 the aircraft simply cannot do much against the overpowered jets higher than BR 12 because of the serious compression issues gajin has with game.
Solution
Limit the range and just make the missiles identical to other nations. When I spam KH38s it’s so easy anyone can do it. peak spam and drop, when it comes to other nations the maximum mach speed of .9 usually makes it easily counter-able and with SPAA like the SM-SV it’s even more braindead at top tier when it should require more skill.
The missiles regardless of where some “proof” was found needs to be nerfed to be balanced in game and prevent a singular spam from winning the entire game for individuals. CAS should play the role of Close Air Support like most nations where the aircraft is at RISK because they NEED to approach targets closer vs peaking from a side of a mountain and dropping quickly not even allowing interception of missiles cause their speed is insanely fast.
There are still other spots where CAS can use some rework like 10.7 missiles having longer range than a majority if not all SPAA in it’s BR. But at top tier from personal usage and being on the other side this missile needs to be hands down reworked and nerfed.
From my understanding, the missile was never made. So they should remove it. Though im sure there will be some complaints about “gaijin is dropping the brs of russian jets. Bias!” When the next br changes come around after that.
Im assuming this is mostly about the kh29t? Due to it being limited to 2 missiles and it being pretty easy to shoot down from long range, it isnt much of an issue.
US A10 AGMs at BR 10.7 can out range a majority of SPAA even in an uptier allowing for killing targets outside of 10km easy.
Real or not, my complaint is these need to be balanced. Russian, Japan etc. the game needs to balance this missile better. I would complain about LMURs but I want to focus specifically on these due to the overpowering nature in the video game.
Mmh.
10km+ maverick shot on A-10.
It’s not the first time that a weapon caused issues or reason of complaints by part of the community and I doubt that will be the last. Different nations, different doctrines, different technologies.
The solution you propose isn’t really a solution until you find sources to limit the weapon to its technical level, either you remove it entirely or deal with it, there’s no “Limit range” solution for that, War Thunder doesn’t balance equally to other nations, there are limits to where you can reduce something to make somewhat similar to others, but never equal. I’ve read on a recent thread about the Pantsir SV-SM is sincerly laughable, there will be combat asymmetry regardless, either on small or large scale.
Then what kind of information can we get out from the player’s profile stats? That the missiles are overpowered? That their kill-death ratio is too high because of a specific weapon? Seriously this is statshaming because doesn’t add to the argument. Regardless of what you think—on War Thunder—you can’t balance something without the papers stating something, that supports your argument.
Not sure that the agm65 is that big of an issue at 10.7. You are looking at 14km max and basically glide bomb levels of flight time at those distances.
The only stuff you are hitting at those ranges are people sitting in the open.
Would be balanced by removing fake weapon from the game.
I already hate that they release artificially nerfed weapons just so they can say they have the weapon in the game.
In a video game like War Thunder balance always comes before “technical sources” at top tier where most things are classified and Gajin already stating they geniunlly do guesswork and balance, the KH38s are simply in a need of balance and nerfing.
None of this means anything in a video game as shown between balancing acts such as BRs and artificial buffs and nerfs. The simple fact is a player can land 20 kills on spawning CAS with minimal effort and skill shows what the video games needs to work on in balance purposes.
Not true anyone can tell you that.
Doesnt have to.
Look at the sources and if it wouldnt be balanced, dont add it. Dont go nerfing something just to add it.
The sources don’t matter Gajin will perform what they see fit regardless of what is true and isn’t true. One truth about these missiles is they need to be nerfed and reworked.
Partly because the community doesnt care and sometimes demand it.
I see people demand they add a weapon and that they dont care if gaijin gives it fake stats. These people need to go to WoT or something.
Since it is not real, they should remove it
Smin did post a picture of a Russian plane carrying what appears to be Kh-38MTs, no idea if they where functional or mockups for aerodynamic testing or something though.
The real or not debate aside, limiting the Kh-38s, both ML and MTs, to the Su-34 and the Su-25SM3 and the Su-30SMs be limited to the Kh-29s would be a good start.
