Wouldn’t the JGSQ-W3 act as a pseudo-LRF though?
From videos it seems to obtain coordinates pretty fast

It is demonstration, obviously prepared and know distance for every target
Even if the ranges are known it doesn’t change the fact that the FDC can calculate the range and relay it to the FCS mounted on the Type 99.

pseudo laser rangefinder based off gps
But is it worth bug-report, that’s the question
If it’s already a source they’ll accept I’d say so. It’d be great if the Type 99 got some sort of rangefinding, might even make it viable against helicopters and the sort.
I don’t know, personally i don’t care if it have a range finder or not, i’m more than satisfied with the BR it is given because currently my Type 75 MLRS at 7.0 has nothing else to play with.
Additionally having such a high velocity gun is already a big advantage than even a proper tank at this BR, most of them can’t even exceed 900 m/s muzzle velocity. And it should be much easier to aim with compare to the Type 75 SPH + incredibly good optics ontop thus it doesn’t need a LRF unless you are planning to up BR it to 8.0+ for some reason.
Behind what you found behind those leather materials would be asbestos. Which was set up to keep the crew warm.
So it requires FDC’S assistance right?
I was a SPH operator and i assume Type 99 uses similar techniques like us, K55A1, K9A1’s FCS we are currently using.
It requires pre mapped MAP data, Weather data, barrel condition and so on.
So by using these data, after we put coordinates, FCS automatically calculates and gives us the angle, direction and which gun powder should we use.
So its not like laser range finder, it’s for long range target.
And requires FDC’s assistance for precision.
Thought you might be interested. Although this is the retired Type 75 not Type 99.
But it might give you some idea how the JSDF operate their artiller piece.
Good news; Type 99-155 gets L15A1 HE shells

It reminds when i had first live fire training
I can see procedure is about the same as ROK army, probably because both are heavily inspired from M109 SPH.
Thats pretty much it :D
Is it saying that the warhead is 11.3kg? If I’m reading that right it’d be a nice improvement over the M107s 9.14kg warhead. Can’t wait!
I think explosive equivalent is 14kg
Does the Type 10 or Type 90 have a spall liner irl?
Likley but i dont think there is any proof as of now.
they have removed the blast wall infront of the ammo rack, seen here
late type 74 has it, would only make sense if its successors featured it aswell even the type 16.
do they change the compass?
they really change the compass so it’s only activate when you lock on target. WHY?!
it’s one of the most reliable way to look for enemy aircraft. by compass. WTF?!
lol gaijin wtf
