J11 and Su27 is not worth 13.3

I think J-11 and Su 27 is not worth 13.3 BR for the following reason:
Terrible radar: N001 radar is inferior to other 13.0+ radar I think
Terrible RWR: their RWR can not provide detailed information as other RWR
Lack of ARH: 13.3 it seems is a dead BR, it constantly get uptiered to 13.7 facing advanced ARH carriers. When facing ARH, the best is a trade when you have the opportunity to fire fist. But with N001 radar, it is not that easy to do so.
Therefore, I think J-11 and Su-27 should go down to 13.0 maximum.

I played the Su-27 (13.3) recently, and honestly it wasn’t that bad. The R-27ER is a beast of a missile, and the R-27ET can nets you kills with ease.

However it is facing ARH, and does have a trash RWR, so I see where you’re coming from, but it shouldn’t be 13.0.

No F-4 deserves to face an Su-27 mate.

Shivers at the thought of defending against 4x R-73s and 6x R-27ER in the Phantom FGR2

Nah, they are fine (besides borged FM) and being up-tiered is, unfortunately, is just part of the game, cant really deal with it without yet another BR decompression, but I dont think we have enough top tier jets to do it effectively. If anything they aint their “advanced” brethren who still have same issues, but had to compete against best missiles of the game

IMO it’s less that the Flankers should go down, and more that the F-15’s should go up. This includes the F-15A, because F-4’s shouldn’t be fighting Eagles either.

The F-104S.ASA on its way to fight 6 R-27ERs and 4 R-73s for some reason

Oh yeah reds suffer all over again on the way to face phantoms lol

Which server do you play and at what time do you play warthunder.I’m having trouble getting kills using my SARH and ET. Enemies immediately go defensive and pop both flares and chaffs, makes my ET obsolete. In the meantime, their ARH are flying at me. Basically.

For the R-27ET I try to make the most of positioning and firing them at unsuspecting enemies, or those in rear-aspect. You can usually fire the R-27ET within 10KM, and so long as the target is not heading away from you, it will likely hit them. If it is heading away from you, a 6km shot will usually make it. Ofc all those ranges are just at around sea level, the higher the altitude you fire at, the more range the missile will have :P. Same goes for the R-73, but at close ranges instead.

For using the R-27ER, use them for long range shots when you can and evade when an enemy ARH missile goes pitbull on you. However for me personally, I hug the deck, and use HMD to acquire radar locks and fire my missiles on spotted targets that are either heading towards me, or unaware of my presence and too preoccupied with other allies to be able to notch it in time.

Sidenote, when you’re defending against ARH, I’ve found that rather then getting the perfect notch angle, just simply going cold and dropping chaff at consistent rates will usually trick the missile into locking the chaff, however it only gets tricked when it’s within ~1-2km of your aircraft, so be careful when trying this as it could be the difference between some close calls or going back to the hangar.

The ET is a niche missile that IMO is only worth bringing on the flanker because it has a large enough missile supply that it can afford to carry niche tool. The trick with ET’s is to try to find isolated targets that aren’t engaged in a big fight and don’t realize that they might be in danger. This is impractical on the tiny shoebox air RB maps where everyone just dogpiles into the center of the map. Its value increases on large EC sized maps.

The ER is also far and away the best SARH missile. It has the best kinematic performance, and its datalink helps keep the missile under control and avoid the “missile flies off into nowhere” problems that other SARH’s are notorious for.

You’ll have no complaint from me in regards to the complaint that the Flankers are presently woefully inadequate compared to the F-16s, gripens, and especially the F-15s that are allegedly supposed to be their equals. Their flight models are bottom of the barrel, radars are subpar, and their Fox-3s are in a league of their own in a bad way. However there is still a wide gulf in performance between the Flanker and the F-4S and friends. The Flanker still has all aspect pulse doppler radar where third gens it would club in downtiers if placed at 13.0 have a mix of headon pulse doppler or MTI. The flanker has an HMD and an assortment of IRCCM fox2s while many opponents in a downtier would have rear aspect Fox2s.

The flanker doesn’t need to go down. The problem is that the F-15 and company need to go up.

And i think Gravy sauce is underrated.
They’re okay at 13.3. They don’t provide the best awareness, but they guarantee at the very least a trade kill with their ordnance, that’s something not many planes below the ARH meta can do.

with respect, they don’thave fox3. i was trying to say fox 3 carriers at close rangen can launch missiles and go defensive while you have to keep illuminate target with your radar. furthermore, I’m not sure if it is only me or not but in most cases i find it hard to detect enemy with my n001 radars.

Yeah pretty much but most maps are EC sized. I rarely get a small map 13.0+. Also the IRCCM of the R-27ET can make it viable at closer ranges as well if they don’t immediately flare since their attention is not 100% always on you and if they miss the smoke trail or flare too late then there’s a good chance it’ll connect.

You can fire an ET as far as 8-9km cold aspect low altitude at mach 1.1 or so.
