Correct, the distance from center of mass (CoM) to “center of stability” is greater for the PL-12. However, this does not mean that “a lower derivative value is needed to account for it”, this statement has no basis in fact.
The “center of stability” is the point at which the control force acts, therefore the distance between it and the CoG is basically like a lever arm. Since T = rF (when θ = 90°), a bigger r (moment arm) increases torque with force being constant. So a higher distFromCmToStab gives the missile more control authority, which effectively multiplies D, that much is correct.
However, this means that the missile is even more prone to oscillation unless PID tuning is adjusted, because greater control authority affects the effect of everything, including all the PID values. Higher plant gain means increased sensitivity to oscillation, this is pretty intuitive. I have no idea why you thought only the D term needed to be decreased, because the absolute effect of all the PID terms are changed in effectiveness, but there is no relative change since everything is proportional. And while the D term should be decreased absolutely, it should be increased relatively (relative to P and D terms).
You seem to have a mistaken or lacking understanding of PID controllers, please clarify what you mean using standard terms which are used to describe PID.
Oh man when meteor, r77m, aim260, mica ng comes to the small maps, its going to be cancer. I hope jets that can carry new missiles get maps that allow those missiles to actually do what they need to do.
i dont know if id put the mica ng in the same category as super long range ram jet missiles, sure its 40-50% more range than the mica, its more a aim120D tier missile
Thing is I think for balancing reasons since micang has less range than meteors it kinda makes sense to have a better seeker. But two issues
If they don’t add large maps, then Mica ng becomes better then METEOR
In all scenarios France gets a better missile than every jet stuck with AIM120D.
Anyways we’re getting off topic but the J-10C is doing better than the f18e so its fine both stay at 14.3. Both are mid-late game fighters that even then need to be played differently, in which both do well with the way they are played. And the J-10C got their radar fix which should solidify it at 14.3 now.
agree kinda i still think the F-18E could be 14.0 with the grippen E and that the F-18cs should be 13.7 and remove their C-5s i honestly think The J-10C is still a lil weak so im in favor of it getting a new engine.
I think it still performs speed wise than the F18e and the FM gives it better energy retention. If the devs put the wrong engine in from the early J-10c model it would make sense to fix it. But purely from a balancing decision I don’t really see a reason to fix the engine. Devs had a choice to fix either radar or engine and they chose the radar. Plus the PL12s perform better than the aim120c5 but not in BVR which both planes shouldn’t be doing anyways.
Still the KH38MT hasn’t entered service yet. When the meteor comes, I can see Gaijin adding the su35 and su57 with R77M, F22 with aim120D, Typhoons with Meteors, and Rafales with MicaNG. Will this be fair? Not really. But when has balance been Gaijin’s priority?
We’ve left the real road long ago. This is a game that tries to match Western nations advancements to the east. We’ve seen this many times with nerfs like the brimstone, spikes, and the likes. Im all for balance but there will always be this nagging feeling of going against fantasy weapons with restricted real weapons.
This really is a fancy way of saying that something is mediocre and has no match presence lol.
EDIT: I have played both the J-10C and F/A-18E now, and while the J-10C can be a fun challenge to fly (same can’t really be said for the 18E though), I don’t think we should beat around the bush. The J-10C and F/A-18E are only 14.3 material if the Su-30SM2, Rafale and AESA EFTs move to 14.7.
A balancing issue… seriously? You’re on the same Br server as the SU30SM2 and the same patch, and you want to justify this as a “balancing issue”?
J10C with WS 10B is the minimum, it’s not asking too much, look at the planes that are in Br: 14.3 Rafale, EF, Su30sm/sm2, Gripen E (which should be 14.3)
The J10C is the last J10 from TT; it should come in the best possible version.
They didn’t fix either of them; they corrected a bug in the J10C’s radar, but the radar and engine are still wrong.
