Ok, start listing them. its weak point has always been its turret face at 100mm. Not much at 5.0 has under 110 pen. Only the Jumbo and french lights are going to have difficulty, and that in a full upteir.
Just tested it literaly every 5.0 can relieble one shot it through the driver port(every 5.0 medium)
Also lfp, anything. just 140mm equivalence, warrants death as well. However 2-IS is a different story.
Spoiler
Against 76mm (American) 75mm (German) and 85mm Russian
Lets mention the elephant in the room then huh. The cupola is the size of your mom
U can go 2-IS mode. No more hull weakspots to talk about.
Yeah that mightysardine guy can just shut his mouth. Dude acts like the is2 is invincible and then when i tell he is wrong he just pulls up my kd. You have to be reverse to make the tank work
False, if you get in a position where you get pushed the moment you fired you already fucked up. You have probably the best reverse of any WW2 tank, so you need to put yourself into scenarios where you can fire and fall back without being rushed
In my experience, reverse style has a significant benefit on base IS-2 but not on the 1944 variant. For IS-2 (1944) UFP is strong; in combination with the greater mobility and convenience offered by driving forwards, reverse driving is primarily useful in static positions here.
Also, it should be noted that reverse style comes with many lesser known drawbacks in addition to the obvious. Urban combat, particularly turning corners, is riskier, mobility kill + repeated shooting leads to death by fire. The most immediate threat is high pen solid AP rounds: APHE always fails due to detonation before reaching crew compartment, but AP penetrates in many cases. Side note: this is still somewhat rare knowledge - I first found this out when playing French tanks, despite having already aced both IS-2 and IS-2 (1944) in CN tree. However, danger has increased since the APHE change (which added the shell head fragment as a separate damage to the APHE detonation fragmentation).
It just might not be my playstyle. 20 seconds between shots seems limiting
IS-2 (1943) and IS-2 (1944) doesn’t share good armor compared to its counterpart nor firepower, but it has somewhat better mobility, the best role the IS-2 can take is as assault vehicle, using its armor against light tanks rather against medium and other heavies is the best option, the ammo options should be enough for most threats you’ll face.
20 seconds is not as bad as you think, especially considering how trolly the Br-471D shell is. Eats through angled armor like butter and nukes every tank you pen.
You have the same pen as a long 88 and 1/3 the reload. You have less armor than the tiger 2 in nearly every section. The 1944 does not deserve 6.7
Cause bad players tend to call everything bad or OP. And like i said, you never played with it. You can show Hellcat all green and it doesnt mean it deserves 1.0 cause everything can pen it. There are other things you have to look at. Like the gun that oneshots everything it peny, trolly turret cheeks that like to bounce even Panthers long 75 or the hull armor on the 1944. Now if you shoot the LFP it might pen but destroys only transmission and then you die to the IS.
It has like 4x zoom which means it takes a lot of effort to aim at target >600m, in that distance the tiger 2 turret going to be so small and you more often cannot pen the turret of T29/T34, and the T34 has 8x zoom which he will get your weakspot first since he can see much better. Most maps didn’t favor the IS-2, only map that favors it is Advance to the rhine where everyone has their hull exposed to the 122 lol
Erm… U played too much German, there is no transmission there. It’s a fuel tank and long 88mms gets kills 99% of the time. If not your loader and gunner are down.
I have no issue with the performance of the gun its just that you really have to play to your reverse speed advantage. And multikills are out of the question
