i HIGHLY suspect you didnt fire it at the aircraft but at his sparrow.
Do you see how the R40 seeker is looking where the enemy Sparrow was?
And how the relocking didnd do anything since the missile was already in IOG?
Both missiles lock to the missile?
I somehow missed you said “both” missiles twice now and only watched the first one lol, gimme a sec
first one definetively did, notice the time both missiles were in the air at the time of taking this screenshot. his 7E was in the air for 0.3s, your R40 was in air for 0.2s, meaning you literally fired 0.1s after him which probably borked the radar guidance. notice how your missile is aiming exactly at the point where enemy launch occured.
He also fired chaff at the exact same time (the blue dot in sensor view).
As for second missile, while it started in IOG, it switched to TRK:
and missile switched back to IOG eventually when it lost radar contact
That is the strange part though. Im not sure how it could fire in iog mode.
One thing i have noticed is that the mig25’s radar is just bad. I feel like this is leading to a lot of the issues.
The IR version is pretty good though so no issues there.
Likely until the seeker “wakes up”, the missile goes off by “memory”, ie. data the onboard radar gave it before launch.
IIRC ARHs do the same, they go off in IOG+DL mode until the terminal active guidance kicks in.
Play a game in IRIAF and look at Fakours in sensor view, they too should go off IOG + DL.
oh yeah definetively, i despise using 23MLA due to its radar lol.
