Hello! I was looking thru the air tree and was wondering if the Thai F-5 was balanced, mainly as I want to unlock it first, but am unsure how everyone feels about its matchups.
Which thai F-5, the squadron one or tech tree one?
I’ve played the f5e- fcu and its really good. Your only threat is fox1 and irccm fox2. If you feel comfortable dealing those u r completely fine.
All of the tech tree ones are very balanced, they have very equal advantages and disadvantages
The Thai F5s are amazing to play, easily my favorite jet at that BR (11.3). The only problem I see with them is the slower engine for the higher tier F5s, but it all balances out pretty well
If you’re talking about the TCU at 13.0, it doesn’t seem that bad, but its not the greatest either. You get 2 of the recently buffed Derby missiles along with 2 AIM-9Ms, a decent radar, only 1 gun instead of 2, and 15 large and 30 regular CMs on a pretty maneuverable airframe (for a 3rd gen).
Your main issues are gonna be the top speed of the thing, the missile count, and the low countermeasures amount. I’d recommend playing it as a support jet to help supplement heavier fighters. That being said i dont have the TCU, i just inferred from my observations of ppl playing it, so take what i say with a grain of salt.

FCU and SCU are pretty good. TCU is an ambush fighter only and has very little match presence because of its poor missile count. Not necessarily bad but won’t get you any high kill games.
