peak power isnt really that useful alone, avarge power output would be a better indicator for the performance of the radar.
True but a lot of people that work in the military news claim that it is capable of it i prefer to use data they provide then use no data at all ^^
Well even f-16 can do that to a target high up and big as hell if you tell me what Irbis detected then i will be thankful.
trust me, you wont get 400kw power output from 2 rd33.
it was a target drone to test the radar, so i dont know exactly
best guess i have seen is that since the manufacturer of the IRBIS says it can detect targets with an RCS of 3m^2 at 350 to 400km, that the target drone was likely at a RCS of around 1m^2
They can charge up a battery or something over time, which can then release short burst of 400kW for radar
400kw is still a HECK LOT. i dont think so radar can be cooled at such high powers
400kW probably only for very short bursts, not extended use
Man. Irbis Radar its one of the most powerful radar to date. It also have one of the higher Peak of not GaN based AESA.
That is Irbis with 5kw Average. On Chinese Su-35s. In that video someone even said that it was a tested for China. Normal IRBIS has 10kw Average
Here some calculation done by some Radargeek aka StealthFlanker.
The red one its suppose to be the AESA on Japanese F2. And Ftr same guy did Simulation on Su-57 main GaAs radar and in his calculation it just follow the same as IRBIS.
IF you are arguing that R-37m its limited by IRBIS. Imagine all these radar and Western plane that have worst detection range and Usually relied on AWACS. For long range shots.
idk where you got that information from and i dont really see why russia is evaluating a radar for china,
especailly when russia had the su-35 in service before china
Is it J/APG-1 or J/APG-2?
I got it from the video that img come from. I’ve see that video posted in a lot of places.
Here some info in Chinese of the radar. This image also come from a video. I just can’t found the video.
Same with the 10kw avg. but even some Serbian source i remember they change it to just 5kw avg.
J/apg-1
Dhimas Afihandarin en X: “The full report is available here : https://t.co/1aULN9dKJe” / X
J/APG-1, it uses wattage estimates from the T/R papers we got a bit ago, could potentially be higher due to the unkown duty cycle, which is claimed to be higher then the average which is used here.
oh god
a spreadheet that looks like it is able to calculate the last number of PI
As per sources it is for a pulse mode

Still better source then “Trust me bro” xD
give me 1 official claim of it having 400kw peak output
to put it into perspective if it is indeed 400kw it would end up having like 1000km+ agaisnt a 5m2 target or something
Maybe but also remember the Su-35 doesn’t need to use it’s Radar an A-50 can provide over the horizon data for BVRAAM shots.
