I’d much rather see Datalink fixes, when a target goes off and on radar the missile will not regain Datalink or change course, it will continue to fly on IOG as if it had no recollection of what it was previously targeting. Also, continuous Datalink guidance means that LDIRCM can be defeated, come on Gaijin.
The key problem would still be the same.
Target sees a ping > Dips to multipath > Vanishes from radar > It’s last course point is underground > “Well I guess I’m killing myself” thinks the missile
Making a damn SARH at 12.7 is diabolical job.
I think the laziest implementation to fix the LDIRCM system in the meantime would be to implement laser heat damage to the module.
The longer the system is active, the hotter and more damage it takes. Like a harrier’s engines at max speed. It slowly cools down if it’s not in use but a string of missiles burns it out. It burns out and you need to repair. Double repair time if that module is damaged.
It’s basically a SARH missile atp, if they could actually fix Datalink, then I’d think it will be quite fine even without the 10 km lock range, because the moment they go off radar for a second the missile goes dumb and has no idea what to do, instead of gaining course corrections again back to the target it was previously locked on, which is what should be happening. I don’t know why they can’t just copy and paste the Sparrow’s code. Air-to-air Datalink seems to work, but not for ground radars.
That’s what I mean though. I’d also like for the misle to know where it is.
Fixing DL would be one way of doing it… It’s already been reported, since the moment the missiles goes on IR track it loses DL.
“vehicle not russian, opinion rejected. Here’s another op russian spaa”
Did they break SLM? Holy, it has never been this unreliable before. I’ve had missiles go on IR track do jack, is it going after flares again? And Datalink is still fucking broken as ever. Why do I have to waste 5 missiles on a target that keeps disappearing in and out of radar. The missiles don’t regain course correction once the target is gone for a microsecond, so you have to waste more missiles than you should. This is BS and literally unplayable, it makes the FlaRakRad look like a god tier SPAA now.
Last time I played it, target lock broke every 2 seconds. I used all missiles to get two targets. Its kinda broke.
I have some footage I recorded, SLM is all kinds of bugged right now, they haven’t fixed anything. Rockets/Missiles still break lock and the lock range is barely 1/2 km right now, IT IS LITERALLY A SARH MISSILE AND IT’S FUCKING UNPLAYABLE.
Sometimes I thought it should be 4km away from taget, but they fly dumb, instead of tracking kicks in.
Look at this, we are almost a year in and IRIS-T is still this broken. Datalink doesn’t work, missiles still lost track of the main target because of some dinky little rocket in front of it. The Missile tracked too late, and they managed to simply outpull it because it never went on track on time.
The second missile WAS WELL WITHIN LOCK RANGE and it never did, making it miss and fly into space for no reason, can you make this missile any more fucking worse?
Yes they can
How to defeat the SLM: fly straight and pull 1-2gs to outmaneuver the missile
So far we got:
-Datalink which doesn’t work
-Missiles that get spoofed by rockets
-Missiles that have schizophrenia and target ghosts
-Missiles that don’t track on time
-Missiles that don’t track at all
It can’t even hit a jet flying in a straight line, just remove this thing from the game, it’s so useless.
Seeker activation range got reverted from 4 to 10 km with todays patch :D
IRIS-T SLM — the activation range for the missile’s onboard seeker has been reverted from 4 km back to 10 km. This is intended to increase the missile’s probability of hitting if the ground radar loses its track on the target.

well would you look at that
How dare you break the precious Kh-38MT meta…
the guy survived…
