Inertia of the missile has no relation to IOG systems.

Again, it’s very clear that you have no clue what IOG is.

IOG has nothing to do with the boost stage of the missile, nor its ability to be “carried by their momentum”. IOG is a system that will either guide it into or towards the last known object that it was tracking, and is used by things such as the AIM-9M, R-27ER, and the hellfire.

Can you explain what the boost stage or energy management have to do with IOG, before discrediting me for making the grave mistake of trying to teach you something?

IOG is simply a system that allows the missile to be launched at a fixed position or last known data point from a fixed position (ex: last position missile had data on enemy aircraft). The inertia of the missile does affect the missile but only because it has several gyroscopes and accelerometers to make sure it makes the right movements to get to the target.

Think of it like traveling blind in a car with only a map. You have to feel your way to your destination by feeling all the right turns. This is essentially what the IOG does. This means it can be wildly inaccurate if even a few numbers are off especially at longer ranges.

Yes I know. Hence my confusion as to why someone would claim inertia would not affect something which by definition uses said inertia to propel the missile to its destination.

Pretty sure there is a disconnect between both of you some were. Inertia does affect the IOG. It will try and compensate for any unwanted movement. That’s what the accelerometer and gyroscopes are for. If the missile couldn’t be guided by the IOG then what’s the point of having it on board?

Still all IOG will slowly get more and more off course with error’s in calculation and the varying sensitivity of the measurement devices. The IOG however does not control the missile motor or guidance when laser is active. Is that the disconnect? If it isn’t could you put what you thought Vamilad said in your own words?
