I suppose that doesn’t really matter though, since both of those mechanics allow you to destroy armored vehicles with explosives without penerating their hull.
Considering the Panthers, Shermans, etc were the MBT’s of their time… it has always been like that though. Was more pointing it out for the guy you were replying to using your question. Plus, KV-2 is a great example of HE shells removing vehicles from the battlefield.

They are in that mode in the form of almost useless AI controlled units that will tickle you at worst and be a completely harmless RP/SL pinata at best. Try placing a player controlled system that can easily outrange aircraft while those have little to no escape from incoming fire and let me tell you, the hunter will quickly become the hunted.
I’m sure you remember the times when people were absolutely losing their shit because airfield AA could actually kill them but Gaijin being Gaijin, they nerfed that to please their petulant children.

dunno if you have played SIM but in SIM they will nail you from more then 3km away so it really depends on the mode you play

I think these discussions are held with RB modes in mind, as Sim is pretty much EOL at this point in time.
Only thing that mode does better than ARB is they actually make strike aircraft somewhat usable, just showing how awful ARB is with that.
No one has yet been able to come up with a way to use spaa in the ARB, if you do not reduce the map at least 4 times or even more. You can always be the first to come up with a solution.
The AI SPAA can also be surprisingly deadly on EC maps in ARB
yeah its because the EC maps are just SIM maps with out the respawns or the 3 hour timer
Cutting down the size of the maps isn’t a tough pill to swallow as you’ll receive the combined arms goodness.
Well I mean now that multi vehicle units are a thing, we could give players the option of using fixed defenses like emplaced Patriot / S series units around the bombable bases.
And sit afk for the whole match when no one is going there?
If GRB maps are made primarily for tanks, why shouldn’t ARB maps be made primarily for planes?
I’m simply showing that we could easily “come up with a way to use air defense in ARB” as you claimed no one has.
And you wouldn’t have to sit AFK when a good missile system could easily cover significant amounts of the map.
Or let the ground missile players pick where they place say 2 or 4 fixed launchers on a map before the start of the game.
Lot of ground dudes would play just to spoil air in return.
Would need to have some dedicated SEAD tools, but easily doable at higher levels. It’s only really hard at the lower levels.
Tanks suffered too long from CAS but now when AA can effectively defend ground units its “suffering for 11.0-11.3 air” ? Too bad u didn’t say anything before when it was only tanks suffering from CAS overload. Btw, it’s called GROUND BATTLES so spawn GROUND UNIT lmao
This is not a solution. Everyone will just fly to another part of the map and spaa will always be afk.
GRB maps are made primarily for tanks and are still criminally small, so doing the same thing for ARB wouldn’t be anything special.
You could place bases in a way so AAs can cover the whole map.
The maps aren’t big enough, and just like GRB if you force the enemy to hide in one place away from the objectives, you win.
It’s a great solution.
